There are not that many hotels in Hoboken, it is only 1 square mile.  The city is right on the Hudson River, between the Holland and Lincoln tunnels.  I would recommend the W.  It is right on the Hudson River, you would be looking  right at lower Manhattan.  Also, it is a short walk to the Path station.  There is also the Sheraton, but that is on the other side of Hoboken, near the Lincoln tunnel.  You would probably have to drive to the Path station unless you are up for a long walk each way.

What I would do is go up on a site such as Travelocity and see what hotels are available in the city.  You can always subway it into Tribeca.  There are more options available in midtown, but since it is spring break week it will be crowded so the prices may be jacked up.  I checked the W and it looks like it is around $250 a night, which is probably cheaper than you can get in teh city.  But, I would still give it a shot.

Thanks!

If you're looking to keep it cheap then look up staying in a hostel. You can stay for like $30 a night. Last time I was in New York I stayed in Brooklyn about 5 minutes from the subway and was in Manhattan within 25 mins. If you're only staying for a night why waste money on a hotel when you only need a bed for a few hours?

You know, I am actually considering doing this, Im just a little nervous about the quality of the hostel, some of them can be a little gross. If you find or know of a decent hostel please let me know!!!

I found a guy on airbnb with good reviews who lives in TriBeCa that is willing to do 120 a night. I might fly into LGA (significantly cheaper flights from Chicago) and then I won't have to pay a ton for transportation if Im already in the location

I dunno but Billie would have got a lot of inspiration for the new album while doing this movie. It will definitely be touching aspects of Rock N' Roll and mainly Punk Rock, he also did some songs and I guess even covered Crazy Train, so it must have been a great time in reflecting on music. Again, it wouldn't be surprising if not only Billie but a whole Green Day performance took place because it will be a good move for creating vibe.

Well that's what happened the last time a solo Billie show was announced, along with a Jakob Armstrong and SWMRS gig :P

I wouldn't count on it.  This is a different situation.  The last time it was the cast showing of the film.  So, a more relaxed atmosphere.  This is the premiere of the film, at a major film festival.  I would imagine that they would not want to take the focus off the film.  It is about Geezer, not about Green Day.

I'm not saying it won't happen, just that I would be surprised if it did.

I'm thinking Green Day might show up as friends of Billie Joe; this is his debut as a leading actor, after all! Even if they don't perform as Green Day it would be so great to see them together.

Edit: also, it would be a nice photo op for them. Since they will be marketing a new album soon, they would benefit just by virtue of being seen out in public and getting their photos taken together.

I'm not sure if the other guys would travel to NY if they weren't playing, maybe Jason would.  I guess we will just have to wait and see

i've stayed in three, in different boroughs each time. the first one is in manhattan on 110 and amsterdam and it's a chain of hostels called hostelling international (HI) - http://hinewyork.org/

the second one was in queens but i can't remember it's name and it was in a bit of a shady area, not for the faint heart (luckily i didn't care by this point).

the third was the brooklyn one called NY Moore hostel - http://www.nymoorehostel.com/

the prices vary, but you may get some good deals. my advice if those two are a little pricey is to use http://www.hostelbookers.com/ and search through them there, look at the reviews and the ratings, and the photos (both user photos and professional photos) and you should be able to find a good, cheap place to stay which won't cost you a fortune like the NY hotels do. good luck!

Loving all the photos/screenshots from this. I'm sure I'll just see it on my computer but I can't wait, looks like it could be the best thing he's acted in and by far the most screen time he's had.

How long do you you guys think his "special performance" will be? I've been doing research for a week now and my trip would cost somewhere between $1000 and $1500 (depending on whether I drive or fly). I really think that will end up being a good price if he's doing something special but if it's just a few songs, I'll wait for Green Day to tour.

The tickets are $40 and they include the movie and show.   My guess is the show isn't very long.

See, that's my concern. It's such a tough decision! I want to go but I also don't want to be disappointed. Not that I would be disappointed by the movie or his performance, just that I spent that much money right before they tour. I read on Tribeca's website that most screenings have a Q and A but I'm not sure if that applies since he's already doing a performance.

Sorry, I wish I could help more but I just don't know what the show will be like.  My guess would be it won't be super long.  There is a lot to do in nyc, so if you made it a vacation it would be worth it

That's how we're looking at it; We'll be spending money for dinner out and a hotel, etc.  but it'll be a nice overnight trip for Husband and me.:)

I think this is a good point and I'm going to go for it, if I'm able to get tickets! I've never been to NYC and I want to. Even if the performance isn't long, I still get to attend a cool festival, see a movie I may never get the chance to watch again, see Billie (hopefully up close), and hear some new songs. I really want to do some touristy things too. Thanks guys!

Just letting everybody know that I emailed the production company and the set will be 6-8 songs long!

This may be a bit early, but I just thought of it.  For anyone thinking of traveling to see this, you should also go see the 911 Memorial.  It is very close to the film festival.  However, you do need to get tickets, usually weeks in advance, they are available on line.  They used to be free, I'm not sure if they are anymore.  They do background checks before you come, that is why you need to get them in advance.  It is very well done and honestly, it is something every person from the US should see at least once.

What's the difference between a cow and 9/11? You can't milk a cow for 15 years.

Agreed! It really is amazing. I went in 2012, before the new tower opened. It's quite strange because it's something so silent and somber surrounded by all the chaos of NYC.
