Hey, what is the criteria for this contest anyway??? I think it's rigged...

As of 9:45 AM Eastern time the Tribeca web site has not been updated...I was hoping for some more info. :(

Around October, we always have the GDC awards.  The admins create a series of categories and everyone votes on them.  And it's not rigged, I'm just that good.

The schedule is suppose to be up tomorrow, not exactly sure when.
But hopefully in addition to the date and time, there will be a price tag to this.

The schedule is supposed to be up today.  When I called they told me March 15.

Right. Whoops

Don't even know what day it is anymore-finals week just has me all....

When were the titles released last week?
Maybe it'll be around the same hour?
I assume noon or 3pm

I don't remember, it was late in the day I do know that.  I know the box office doesn't open until 11 so maybe the offices don't open until then either.

The list was up, but I couldn't find Geezer.  I was still searching for it and the site went down.  I will try again later.

Here it is, Sat 4/23 at 8 PM.  It says that special screenings are $40.

I love the picture, Billie smashing a guitar.

It is being held at Spring Studios.  I found this article.  Depending on what studio it is being shown in, it could seat as much as 800 people.

That may be the best one of the three.
So the place it's held at is only a 2 min walk from where my dad works.
Maybe I can use that as an angle to go if the tix are $40, which they appear to be...

I thought it said it was held on the 6th floor of the TriBeCa hub. Or is the TriBeCa hub and spring studios the same thing?

It's interesting that the TriBeCa film festival doesn't mention anything about a billie Joe performance on their website. You would think that would make that a huge selling point

Dammit. That's on my birthday. And I will be nowhere near that festival.

Ssssshhhhhh don't spread the word until after I get my tickets.

Honestly, I don't think they get it.  When I called I asked them how fast some of the shows sell out.  The woman told me that it depends on the show and she has seen it that a show sold out by the end of the first day.  By, the end of the first day???  I'm thinking 30 seconds.  All I could do was chuckle and think they have no idea what is about to hit them when crazed Green Day fans come to town.

Thats pretty funny, however it has me a little worried. Seeing the show is one thing, but I don't think I would pay a couple hundred bucks to fly out to NYC just to see the movie. I hope they aren't leaving it out on purpose. How do we know Billie is performing? New York Times and Rolling Stone said so, but where did they get that information from?

It wasn't just NYTimes and Rolling Stone, that info came right from the production company.  Plus, it is a special screening and they told me that the hub is where they have all the concerts.

If I can get a ticket I think I'm gonna try and do this - mainly to use up the flight I bought for stupid nifi

I'd say this is a safe bet! If he's going to perform for sure it will be worth it and you won't have to struggle with the "is there going to be a show???" stomach ache :) Even if we don't know what kind of show it will be. Maybe it's more interesting that an actual planned Green Day concert :P

Question for those familiar with NYC -- Any areas we should stay away from when looking for a hotel? Currently looking at hotels in West Village, and Hoboken as I think JJ suggested.

Both of those are probably your best option.  If you are coming in by plane, to Newark, you can get a hotel near the airport and train it in from there.

Do you have any specific hotels in Hoboken you are familiar with that you would recommend? Not that I have tickets, but I'm getting hopeful!

If you're looking to keep it cheap then look up staying in a hostel. You can stay for like $30 a night. Last time I was in New York I stayed in Brooklyn about 5 minutes from the subway and was in Manhattan within 25 mins. If you're only staying for a night why waste money on a hotel when you only need a bed for a few hours?

There are not that many hotels in Hoboken, it is only 1 square mile.  The city is right on the Hudson River, between the Holland and Lincoln tunnels.  I would recommend the W.  It is right on the Hudson River, you would be looking  right at lower Manhattan.  Also, it is a short walk to the Path station.  There is also the Sheraton, but that is on the other side of Hoboken, near the Lincoln tunnel.  You would probably have to drive to the Path station unless you are up for a long walk each way.

What I would do is go up on a site such as Travelocity and see what hotels are available in the city.  You can always subway it into Tribeca.  There are more options available in midtown, but since it is spring break week it will be crowded so the prices may be jacked up.  I checked the W and it looks like it is around $250 a night, which is probably cheaper than you can get in teh city.  But, I would still give it a shot.
