First, it is always worth it to go to NYC.  However, if you are on limited funds, I would wait until they lists the schedule.  The tickets for single shows don't go on sale until March 29.  From what I was reading on the website, it looks like it is $40 for special showings and since Billie is performing I think this would be a special showing.  I planned to call tomorrow to figure out what my options are.  I don't really want a package deal because I don't have the time to go see multiple movies.  Also to understand exactly how it works.  I'm just hoping it doesn't sell out before single tickets are available.

I might call as well, but you should definitely post about what they say on here. I'd love to be at an intimate showing like this, NYC just makes it even better; I've always wanted to go. Regarding selling out, how many seats are available or do you know?

I will post what I find out.  I don't know how many tickets there are.  I guess it would depend on what theater it is playing at.  I will ask them tomorrow.  It looks like the special events are part of the Times Talk series.  I know that, depending on who it is, Times Talks can sell out quickly.  I wanted to go see Helen Mirren and it sold out before I had the chance to buy tickets.  I really don't know, but I would imagine this would be fairly popular

Yes let us know, I'm curious about this, maybe I might even be interested if tickets are not sold out, I'm a 3 hour drive away...especially since Billie will be there and perform as well!

I believe this is a special screening, but on the off chance that it's a weekend, I wonder if it'll then be possible to buy a 20$ ticket since " all screenings on Saturday & Sunday" is what is stated there.
I mean...when one uses the word "all"...

If it is 40$, I don't know if it's worth going anymore ? As great as it'll be to judge Billie's acting performance and be treated to one after the screening (how many songs do y'all think this would entail), that's almost the price of a GA ticket...

I would imagine it will be a very small audience.  So I think the $40 is probably worth it.  I will see what I find out tomorrow.  But, yes I definitely think it is a $40 ticket.

The small audience would hold true for worth.
Depending on my how much money I have in my account and when it is I may shell it over....
So many factors.

I also have to set money aside for three shows for the next couple of months as part of a class so there's that to mull over...

Thanks in advance for informing us of what they tell you.

I agree $40 is definitely worth it. A movie ticket alone costs right around $10, $50 is generally minimum for a concert of any kind, and there is usually a Q and A after these showings. For me travel is the only issue.

Am I the only one supremely disappointed with the "excellent" and "exciting news" which subsequently turned out to be the "films release"...one screening at a film festival. :shy:

I would have been disappointed if I didn't live an hour from the festival.  If I don't get tickets I will join you in your disappointment

I thought the exciting part was Billie playing a "show" after the movie showing.

Tickets go on sale on my birthday :D

You guys think it would be worth it to fly in from Chicago? I've never been to NYC. Anyone know of cheapish(er) hotels in the TriBeCa area.

There is no such thing as a cheap hotel in NYC, that you would want to stay at.  However, if you stay in NJ and take a path over, it would be cheaper.  I'm going to call the box office later and get as much info as I can.  That might help you make the decision.

Yeah understandable, I looked online yesterday and hotels that where in the $150 range jumped up to $300 for the festival. Id maybe be willing to spend the money if I knew more information. please do let us know what you find :)

You might end up being our travel agent for those of us who might want to try to get tickets ...do you think this would be worth a 3 hour drive for me if I could get a ticket? I'd want a hotel as well, maybe you could suggest some in NJ. Tribeca is in lower Manhatten, right? I haven't been to the City in a while. This is so intriguing!

Yes, Tribeca is in Lower Manhattan, and traveling for Jersey would definitely be better.
Airbnb for those that want to attend outside the city? Lower costs and all (maybe, not sure. I've never done any of this)

I called the film festival.  The schedule will come out on March 15.  At that time, each film will be classified as a general screening, special event or Tribeca Talks.  The Tribeca Talks cost $40 a showing.  The special events will be priced individually.  So, I would assume this is considered a special event, so it could end up costing more than $40.  We have to wait and see what the cost is on March 15.

All movies are shown in standard Regal movie theaters.  We won't know which theater until March 15.  So, I would imagine the amount of tickets available with be around 500 or so.

The tickets go on sale on March 29 at 11 am via phone, in person and on line.

I've already cleared it with hubby to go, if I can get tickets.

As far as people coming in.  The city and surrounding areas can be expensive.  You can stay anywhere in the city and take a train, so you might want to look at hotels all over the city.  I would be thinking in the vicinity of $200 per night.  NJ is probably a better bet to getting to Tribeca.  You can stay in Hoboken and the path train is a 10 min ride to WTC and $3.  Hoboken is an adorable little town, I went to school there and also had my wedding there, so I know it very well.  You can also stay in Staten Island and take the Staten Island Ferry, which is the best kept secret in NY.  It is free and literally stops directly in front of the STatue of Liberty.  I would think hotels in SI might be cheaper.  If you are flying in, you can get a hotel at Newark Airport and train into the city.

I'm considering trying to get a ticket for this because I bought a flight for nifi last year but that got cancelled. I changed it to San Francisco for June with the intention that if Green Day announced anything before June I would change it to another date and go to a show, but I don't know how likely it is tour dates would be announced before the end of June.

So excited for this one. I'm only a 45 minute drive so hopefully I'll be able to get tickets.

Has anyone ever tried Airbnb? Or have a couch I can sleep on? Sorta joking, not really... Maybe i'll just bum it and find a morning flight -- sleep in the airport.

As this will be at Regal, I could see the possibility of this being under 40, but not by much (maybe 30).

One week to see...

So it won't be playing anywhere else in the US?
