Sanity Loan
I hope they have a "jukebox mode" I know RB2 was supposed to have it but it was axed at the last minute. It would be nice to just watch the band play through the songs. When I'm playing, its hard for me to pay attention to the avatars because I'm focusing on the note highway. There is a thing in RB2 I believe. Its called performance mode.... the note "highway" doesn't show up so you have to play it without notes. But you can just be the singer (if you have a microphone), set no fail mode, not sing, and just watch.

Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love
For you wondering what Horseshoes and Handgrenades will sound like on Rock Band (or radio edit), send me a PM (do not ask for a PM) and I will send my clean version of it to you (it sounds legit to be honest). K, so I just listened it. It doesn't sound as bad as I thought, by far not, but the thing with it is, it's more of a "I'm not f---cking around" (or ---cking), either way, it sounds more like the word just got a little lost (with the exception of "I'm gonna drink fight and ---". I have to say, that doesn't sound as awful as I expected,). This sounds definitely good and I'd be more than happy if that's what happened with the RB track too, but if they do the same they did with Longview, they'll completely remove the word instead of like it's said under his breath or something. Maybe they've got some sense though, and do it like you did, that'd be very nice.
Sanity Loan
You guys didnt get what I was saying. I said for Green Day to re-record them like Aerosmith did. YOU don't get what Young_Nastyman is saying. He believes that Lookout! owns the rights to the songs... lyrics, riffs, every note, etc. So if they were to re-record them then they would have to ask Lookout! for permission to record them every though they are Green Day's songs. BUT, I don't know how true that is and how song-rights work so I cannot provide an answer. But I agree with you, the band should re-record them.... it would be amazing to hear that. And getting those songs isn't out of the question. Chris (GD:RB leader) says that they can't get their hands on the MASTER TRACKS... NOT that they don't exist. K, so I just listened it. For the first and second "I'm not fucking around" parts I HAD to leave part of the 'F' and the "ing" in there to make it sound good, you know? Yeah, I know. And that's the problem, they didn't do that for Longview to make it sound good (although there it was significantly less drastic, it's not an ideal comparison). I'm afraid how much they'll be willing to give up on the sounding good part to properly censor it.

I mean, technically a re-record is new material though A perfect example: Welcome To Paradise on Dookie isnt owned by Lookout! is it? Thats still on the game. This was re-recorded but used in the game. So maybe theres something I'm missing?

So then who owns them and why couldn't Harmonix get their hands on the multi-tracks? Wait... doesn't Reprise own them since they put out the remastered versions a couple years ago? Jinjonator
I'm pretty sure they said they weren't able to find any of the master tapes or w/e. It wasn't a legal issue. Though I am forced to wonder why they have nothing from Shenanigans.

Jinjonator
Well they have Insomniac, Nimrod, and Warning, albeit very little, and not being able to get the master recordings was the only reason the first 2 albums are absent, so it's not lacking for lack of trying. But Shenanigans is still unaccounted for.

PanicAttack!
I have a rock-band/mastertape related question. When they released the two 3-song RB download packs, we somehow got hold of a split version of every song, with an acapella, w/wo guitar, intrumental ect. version of every song. i'm guessing this is something someone with skills in ripping managed to do with the songs in Rock Band, because the songs are put up in different track for the purpose of the game.. So my question is, are we gonna get those kinda versions of all the songs in Rock Band: Green Day (If someone chooses to do it ofc)? Cause i would really L.O.V.E to hear the individual tracks off especially old songs, but overall just all the 47 songs.
Jinjonator
they should of had the whole warning album ^^^^^^^^yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees I mean, if they weren't planning on having DLC, they really should've made up for that by having more songs, and having all of Warning just...makes sense. More songs, something in between little warehouse and Milton fucking Keynes!, and...that's probably it. They should've done it.

I did that for the 6 songs that are out now. But the problem is, vocals is the only track you can get that is purely standalone. When trying to isolate drums, guitar, or bass, the vocals and back-up music are faintly audible which makes the track not 100% isolated. But, that is in Rock Band 2 and idk how the audio mixing will be in GD:RB. I'm sure it will be the same unfortunately I remember in Guitar Hero 3 you could get the individual instruments with no problem.
PanicAttack!
I'm still in the opinion that Harmonix should've just taken a little more time in doing the game, and put every single full album in the game, and a stage and avatars for every album-era... This might seem like ALOT of songs and alot of work, but it would capture every possible song that a fan and non-fan would love to play.. I know Green Day have never done one single bad song, and every song have some fan that loves it like crazy. it also, overall, would make the game several levels more memorable for fans and someone getting into the band via this game. Even if they were not all released at once, they could do a download section, and ripping people for money, i wouldn't mind, because many fans would do it, and it would at least be there.. And that would make the game totally complete in my opinion. My idea is this (Just for the sake of imagining it): 1039/Smooth: - Avatars: Longhaired Billie and Mike and idk about Tre, but it should be without John Kiffmeyer, because it would be a little wierd and awkward! Could be a pre-kerplunk Tre, with almost no hair. - Stage: Some living room with the crowd circeling around them, very intermate. Kerplunk!: - Avatars: Short Haired Billie this time, don't know about Mike and Tre' but something from that time - Stage: A scene like The Warehouse, or Gilman? Dookie: - Avatars: Blue haired BJ ofc, actually, the same as already - Stage: WOODSTOCK 1994! Insomniac: - Avatars: Partly blonde, shorthaired Billie, pretty much bald Mike, and green or red haired Tre' - Stage: I'm blank on this one, but i'm guessing a regular Insomniac-tour venue and set-up (It's all about the set-up) Nimrod: - Avatars: Billie black haired (again), Mike wih short red hair, Tre' with his signature green, very high, spiked hair - Stage: A smaller stage than on Insomniac to show the fall of popularity they faced, to show both the rise and fall (and RISE back up!), maybe a stage like The Alley they played one time in canada, with some videos on youtube: - It would make a different set-up. Warning: - Avatars: Can't explain it better than this: http://greendayauthority.com/Picture_Vault/displayimage.php?pos=-11621 - Just a little 'goofy' - Stage: Some festival like Bizarre, or the concert they did at Goat Island . Shenanigans/New songs of ISH: - First i was thinking of the Pop Disaster Tour as it was the only concerts they did at the time, but they don't really respresent the albums, so maybe these songs, if even released, should just be some extra you could win, or download and play oon all the other stages. Other songs could be included as I Fought The Law, Favorite Son, Too Much Too Soon, Working Class Hero & When It's Time. American Idiot/21 Century Breakdown: - Exactly like they did already, with Milton Keynes and The Fox Theatre! These are only fantasy-thoughts that would make the game perfect for me, i know this is pretty much to ask for, but it wouldn't be impossible, and how i would've made it, if i were in charge Hope someone enjoyed my idea I think I know what you are asking so I'll try to answer it... Sanity Loan
@ Panic Attack!: I love your ideas for the albums/stages/avatars! And I'm not yet sure if I'm going to share the "multi-tracks" I would get from the game... maybe with only a few CLOSE people who would want them. If I do share them with EVERYONE, then I would put some "protection" (sound clips that I would make that play randomly throughout the song) on them because people have put them on YouTube, used them for mixes, and for other things that I do not get credit for. I like to keep my hard work private or share it with close friends. I know I sound like a dick but that's how I feel about it.

And also, in the different version you hear crowd-screaming and cheering throughout the song, so that should put most people off, using it for other purposes than just listening :b

son
Derp Derp Derp Harmonix wouldnt have done this, its all about money in the gaming world, to make more games thats why they didnt release a special edition with instruments. beatles rock band was a flop compared to their other games because that was focused more for the hardcore beatles fan. this game is focused on the average fans, with the three most popular albums. trust me, i wanted all the albums too, but the costs of licensing fees and the cost of all the songs, art work and all that crap would have been substantial

Green Daynger25
I was kind of bummed about the censoring but it's not gonna kill it for me. I wonder how far it will go though. I remember watching the live St. Jimmy video on MTV and for some odd reason they edited out 'zipgun' I never figured out why, but hope it's not that bad in GDRB. minorty13
^I thought Billie said something different than zipgun that time? or at least that's what someone told me But in the new Longview video the only thing they censored out was one of the shits and the fucks, masturbation and everything is still intact which made me happy I would be willing to financially support that with an increased cost in the game. Seriously. The cost isn't a problem, I just want more songs!
