He also said that the next record will be more raw and "lower quality" album :)

Isn't that what he said the Trilogy was gonna be? Never trust anything he says :P

Great one! Still disappointed that Kill the DJ isn't in this, but some songs are so much better in Demolicious!

Oh yeah, wasn't there a demo of that on Cuatro? I can't find it on Youtube right now, it might've just been a rehearsal, but it had heavier guitars which was cool.

I caved and listened to it since there were spoilers everywhere anyway :P I'm a "trilogy apologist" so I expected to love it but yeah, nearly all the songs sound awesome and some of them are even better. Even I thought LBNT was irredeemable but it's not bad like this and Mike's part in SD&V doesn't sound as random and irrelevant. Stray Heart (I died listening to that shit, man), Fell for You, Missing You, Nuclear Family and Makeout Party are my favourites. Carpe Diem is the only one I'm not bothered about but then I didn't like it that much in the first place.

Is it just my shitty speakers or is he singing "stay a night" not "stay the night" in the acoustic version? Also does anyone have the alternate lyrics to Oh Love? No idea what he's on about there.

On first listen, I'd say I prefer the trilogy. I actually really liked U, D, T so this release wasn't really necessary for me. But interesting to hear the songs in their earlier form.

Few thoughts:

- Baby Eyes and 99 Revolutions are the only two I'd say are better than on the trilogy

- STN and Stray Heart are far superior on their respective albums than Demolicious

- A middle ground between the two would have been ideal. The trilogy definitely needed more distortion.

Yeah, it's on minute 5:00 of the Cuatro :) It sounded awesome!

OMG that's exactly the store I saw. Are you going to be there? What time? I should really make plans to go now.

I will be there! I'm planning on getting there an hour or so before the store opens. We should definitely try and meet up again!!

Just taking a shot in the dark here, but I think Stay The Night is from December when Billie was messing around and uploaded parts of acoustic versions Scattered and Missing You to Instagram. You can really hear the similarities between the songs in his voice.

exactly, that's what I thought too...and maybe he recordered it with the iphone too? Cause that's what it sounds to me..

Does anyone else think Little Boy Named Train works better at a slower tempo

Me! I've always thought that it's an average song, not bad, but not one of my favorites. Demo version of it works a way better for me.

I really want the next album to be recorded live now. Like demolicious but with better mics and balancing.

What if this is what they were doing "remixing" the trilogy and just labeled it as demos and added State of Shock. I mean State of Shock is so much of a different recording then the rest.

you clearly hear that those are demos.

i think they thought about releasing one remix album, but then decided that it won't be 100% what they want for those songs (you can't really change the speed and the equipment they were recorded with). so instead they maybe thought "fuck it, why not release the demos instead? they are not high quality but come as close as it gets to the songs true spirits, better than any remix".

State of Shock, Let Yourself Go, and Stay the Night are 110% identical. Same guitar tone, same room sound, same everything.

Oh, and Stray Heart and possibly Oh Love.

so with the quote on the back of the cover they are actually saying they dislike the production of UDT themselfes...

i really appreciate that they are able to critically reflect their work.

on another note: i love the new chorus of sex, drugs and violence with mike being as loud as billie.

Wow, these demos really bring the trilogy to life. I'm halfway through, and the band sound so pumped and energised that I haven't thought twice about the things that usually irk me about these albums. :) This must have been such a fun part of the project to record - I don't blame them for wanting to send out 3 albums worth of songs if this is what they were working on at the time!

EDIT: Stay The Night studio is better. That's about it.

It's quite painful to see all this potential wasted

I honestly believe if the trilogy sounded like this then they would've sold more copies of each. I'm really enjoying the louder, more rough sounds of the guitars and the way Tre's drums sound in the demos I enjoyed more.

Trilogy is way better than this demos. I hate the drums on Demolicious. Too loud and too much snare. Why did they even put acoustic stay the night there. It sounds like it's recorded with a phone.

Anyone got the lyrics for the part before the guitar solo on Oh Love? The part which is different from the trilogy version.

I know the last line is:

Please don't go away tonight

The rest of the lines before it have similar wording

It's on Amazon UK now - just ordered it.

Not sold via Amazon though. Once I see one sold directly from Amazon, that's when I would trust it.
