Green Day to release LP titled "Demolicious" to support Record Store Day

He based his covers off the shitty recordings of State of Shock and Sweet 16 that we got right after the tiki bar show. Compare the Sweet 16 cover to the 2011 recording, not the studio version. That'd be a better way to tell how accurate his covers are

Yeah I know that dude, I'm just saying it's not a good idea to get excited about the Demolicious version of State of Shock based on this guys cover, because it may or may not be very different from the actual version. Like I said, I love his instumental of Sweet 16 and would love the studio version a whole lot more if it was more like that.

***UPDATE!!!***

I was doing a little digging (trying to find out if Meltdown with The Ramones would be released on 10" or 12" vinyl - I'm seeing sources saying both), and it looks like literally EVERYTHING being released for RSD is going to be made only in extremely tiny runs - including Demolicious. Granted, this is only on one site, but it's disheartening news. Here is the site:

http://www.strictlydiscs.com/page/about/us/intheknow?id=310

Start praying, people - the numbers aren't good: 1,000 cassettes, 6,000 CDs, 3,000 colored LPs. Springsteen seems to be the only one who is putting out a "significant" quantity of his record - more than 8,000 are being pressed. Paramore and The Pogues are being limited to 3,000, and The Ramones to 5,000. I think I'm going to have to actually camp out (and I do NOT like camping - had a really shitty experience when I was a Cub Scout [nothing scandalous - just lots of bugs and hard cots and a wooden toilet and Conservatives and no marshmallows and a giant thunderstorm that drenched everyone]).

I really hope that it doesn't rain. And that I get a cell phone signal. Thank God for Cards Against Humanity. Any thoughts on camping out (or getting to the store super fucking early)?

Fuck. The nearest record stores are all a good forty minutes drive and there is no way I can convince my parents to camp out early for an album.

That guy's cover of State of Shock sounds awesome. But then I agree his Sweet 16 cover is better than the actual song so maybe I shouldn't get my hopes up :P

Never thought I'd consider camping out for a record but at least it might feel more special when I get it...? Fuck.

It's possible these are the original demos, but with newly tracked guitar. Since everyone seemed to have issues with the guitar tone on the trilogy it doesn't make sense to release demos with the same guitar tone.

It would only make sense to change the guitar tone if they didn't like it (and since they chose to release albums with that guitar tone I doubt that) or if they felt like a change to mix things up. Changing the way their music sounds to suit fans/popular opinion is a hideous idea :P, I hope they'd never do that.

Green Day is usually good at labeling stuff

Re recording of new guitars and such would be considered as remixes not demos...

I know it would be considered that way.. thats the whole point. Maybe they're just pretending these songs are demos

Very true, although Billie's comments in the RS article about wishing they'd recorded the last albums differently makes me think there might be a little bit of discontent in hindsight. Maybe.

Foxboro?

But it not a Green Day release...

Seems like he has a issue wirh doing it when it comes to Green Day album I can understand it not being done for 21st but the trilogy sounds like it was set up to sound like it was a live in studio when it wasn't...

I could and probally wrong but its funny they'll do a low fi record when it comes to a side project but still keeps saying he wants to do a lo fi record when referencing GD

I think it's funny that on the anniversary year of their two most liked albums, we're getting any album of demos from their three least-liked albums.

I think the next album is where they will actually do it low-fi. After everything that's happened with rehab and poor sales. I think they'll just be like "fuck it"

Least liked? Speak for yourself.

The Trilogy is generally disliked. Personally, I like it, but a huge amount of people dislike it.

I thought that's what they said about the Trilogy. (except the low-fi part)
