green day is
I've still never heard "what you will" in Longview, y'know. I know exactly where it is, and I know what it's meant to say, but all I actually hear is some kind of weird background grunt from Robert Eggplant. Backyard Skulls
I wondered what Mike was shouting, sounded like c'mawwwn to me Yeah I think I quite like state of shock! The lyrics make me think of the person being in a serious accident, forgetting everything and just clinging on: "making amends with my amnesia, I'm going under anaesthesia". Idk Just heard the "Tasty licks yo!" at the end of sex, drugs and violence omfg

Australian1diot
I think Baby Eyes is 10x more awesome in Demo format :3 That epic bass and a more distorted guitar really unleashes the savage beast!
Liam
I was just assuming that JB-Hi-Fi would be stocking it? I haven't done any research whatsoever though. Sanity is usually pretty shit I find, so I think JB might be our best bet. JB-HI-FI isn't going to have it, the release is for independent record stores. Look up some in your area and contact them to see if they're getting any in.
Heather.
Listening to Missing You right now. I like how in this version he makes it really obvious that "It gets so hard when I'm missing you" is a double entendre. On Tre he just goes "It gets so hard when I'm missing you", but here he goes "It gets so...hard when I'm missing you" Glad to hear someone else voice that thought... I wasn't sure if it's all in my head. Or we just kind of have that "rawr" thing in our heads.
DannyDirnt
I love how I used to skip Sex, Drugs & Violence and this version made it one of my favorite Green Day songs. To be honest, after listening to Demolicious more carefully, I prefer all the versions in Demolicious to the ones in the trilogy Epic fail production
tdlyon
If we can learn anything from this album it's that the band needs to let Rob Cavallo go for the next album.
Sanity Loan
Yep, it's all Rob's fault the band didn't use more distorted guitars on the trilogy. Fire his ass!!!
Punkfreak1414
Can someone explain how it's robs fault for the guitar tone? I mean he seems like a good guy so I don't imagine him FORCING them to use cleaner tones so it's not just his fault? You really think over the course of 20 years green days going to stop doing what they want to do now? Also everyone acts like it was his job to say what songs to do or not and help with quality control but billie said it himself that rob heard all the songs and loved them. I think he is a great producer. It's just the band made some bad choices, actually in there minds they didn't make a bad choice it's just all of us friggin criticizing everything they do. I'm not one to talk cause I complained about the trilogy to for certain things but after listening to these demos it just shows how amazing green day really is as a band and people. Like someone said before all the things that they said in the studio updates and cuatro make sense now. These songs are great.

While it's not Rob's fault the band wanted to do clean tones however as a producer he should had made suggestions or piped up like "do you really feel this tone works for this song" or "Billie do you really need the vocal filter or do you really need it set at this level"? One role a producer has is to make a song sound as best as it can and the trilogy lacks that but it's not solely on Rob... The band has a big role as well
Australian1diot
Some (kinda) major things I noticed whilst listening to Demolicious for the first time: 99 Revolutions changes key weirdly but whatevs, honestly sounds kindaaa cool Carpe Diem has two solo licks State of Shock isn't too impressive Stay the Night's guitar solo is altered Nuclear Family has a better outro guitar solo Baby Eyes sounds probably ∞ X better than the original, thus being my favourite off of Demolicious, (I MEAN, THAT BASS-LINE! AND THE WAY THE DISTORTION DROPS IN) Makeout Party's guitar solo stuffed up Missing You IMO has largely improved as a demo Stay The Night's acoustic version's kinda odd and has a bit of a 'Sitin' on the porch' kinda feel. Overall, Demolicious is quite destructive (hehe) with monstrous distortion, State of Shock's kind of lacking, however the rest of most the songs not listed above are quite well done. In short, the trilogy should have followed a more distorted direction, and Demolicious has bought some of the trilogy's dignity back. Demolicious 7/10 IMO

Sanity is usually pretty shit I find, so I think JB might be our best bet. Hey Aussies! Any of you guys got the low down on which stores in Victoria will carry Demolicious? Just wondering if anyone has already done their research before I start doing mine Its released for record store day so there is no way JB Hi-fi or sanity will get it otherwise it would defeat the purpose. Here is the Australia website for Record Store Day, more specifically the list of stores in Australia. http://www.recordstoreday.com.au/stores/ You just need to find stores near you, then go to their website or email them to see if they have any on order. AlissaGoesRAWR
They definitely made a mistake scraping off that intro from Baby Eyes. I wish we could have heard Amanda with the original intro too. I wish they would have swapped Ashley for Amanda on Demolicious. Ashley is kind of lame without the bridge in the final version (my favorite part of the song). Amanda with the intro riff would have been nice.
Mr. Shluffy
Yeah to blame Rob for the guitar tone on the Trilogy is to ignore everything the band has said. Billie talked about how him and his techs built new amps and that is what they used on the album. They obviously did that with a specific goal in mind for the tone. Also Billie has said in interviews how Green Day has produced every one of their own albums (along with whoever else was credited, but they obviously always played a major role)

AlissaGoesRAWR
I think part of the reason I like the Stay the Night acoustic so well, despite it being an obviously low-quality song and sub-par delivery, is almost entirely emotional. Stay the Night was the first trilogy song I ever heard, back in 2010 when those soundcheck recordings first showed up on YouTube. It always kind of embodied the trilogy to me, because it got me so excited for what was to come. I connected with the song instantly for personal reasons and I still do. Despite those personal connections, it also started the era that allowed me to see the band live for the first time, where they also played the song live. So it means a lot to me because of that as well. And now, despite all the mess that came of the trilogy and its failures, for me, the era sort of closes out the same way it began... Me listening to a low-quality version of the same song I love so much. It all came full-circle. So although it might seem out of place to most people, I'm so, so glad they included it on this CD! It meant a lot to me.
Jirachi
Am i the only one that thinks the "Ooooh"s at around the 2:35 mark of Carpe Diem (right after "Making a living" and "Making a Killing") sound really fucking weird? Probably just me. Anyways, i love demolicious. I agree that the trilogy should have been like this. The only one i dont like is Ashley because they took out the second verse and it just sounds a bit too repetitive. Im not the hugest fan of the slower paced "Little Boy named Train" but i still enjoy it.
