Although I chose the free economy shipping, my cassette and LP came in today (they were packaged separately). The vinyl was clear (I was kinda hoping for red, but clear's cool, too). I'm not sure how to put pics up on here, so I'll just link to my Instagram.

To anyone who bothers to look into my Instagram history: I apologize for nothing. Especially the "Leo didn't win the Oscar" jokes. They were hilarious (and I was on his side).

♫♪ Not everybody likes State Of Shock

Should I be concerned? ♫♪

Hahaha  to me it's simply great, I like it since my first listen. So I don't know how to explain it :P

Does anyone have a song on the Demolicious album that stands out to them the most?

"Baby Eyes" has definitely been on repeat for me, I can't get enough of that song. "Ashley" is also a great song. "Oh Love" surprised me the most, I like the way the demo sounds a lot more than the one on Uno. :)

State of Shock grew on me, now it´s my favourite mainly because of the drums (especially the cymbals) and guitars and BJ´s way of singing in some parts (e.g in "should I be concerned"). And I love the repeating of "we want to go to heaven but no one wants to die" And especially drums/cymbals along with "save your last goodbye", that sounds so 60-like.

I've been really digging "Stay the Night" acoustic and "State of Shock" since they offer something new.

I love hearing the creative process of structuring a song so, I'm enjoying any differences that I find (such as singing along with the guitar & hand claps on Little Boy Named Train, the chord change in 99 Revolutions, bass intro to Baby Eyes, tambourine on Fell for You, etc). I wish that the other songs on Demolicious weren't so similar to the final album versions.

Considering that its supposed to he a ltd release, I'm surprised how many there's been for sale on eBay. I'm wondering if it was more like 1000 per county, not worldwide for the vinyl.

Or, it could be that those who bought it aren't fans and planned on selling it from the outset

this is an unfair thing.. there are lots of fans around the world that haven't a chance to get a copy of it (me included).. and these jerks on ebay are selling it for over U$$ 50...

it's nice to do something like RSD to make people go to a store, but it's not nice to see people buying it just to make money on real fans..

I purchased my vinyl on eBay for only $43 (including shipping). That's only $8 more than the asking price. Not too bad, IMO.

In fact, it would have cost me more money to take a train into Manhattan to get it from a record store. And, all the stores I called that day either didn't have any or ran out anyway.

Billboard talking about Record Store Day including Demolicious. http://www.billboard.com/biz/articles/news/6069804/record-store-day-chart-recap-vinyl-album-sales-reach-historic-high

Summary:

  • Demolicious was the highest selling album release for record store day.
  • Demolicious is being released digitally on May 19th. With physical sales to remain exclusive to record stores for the time being at least.
  • 42% of Demolicious sales were on CD, 42% on vinyl and 16% on cassette.

"On the 25-position Tastemakers chart -- which tracks the top-selling albums at independent and small chain stores -- only three albums weren't specifically tied to RSD festivities. The chart (excerpted below) is led by Green Day's 18-track "Demolicious" album, which was released exclusively to indie retailers on CD, vinyl and cassette. (Yes, cassette.)

It sold nearly 4,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Of that sum, 42 percent were CD, 42 percent were vinyl LPs and 16 percent were cassettes. "Demolicious" will become available to digital retailers on May 19, but its physical configurations will remain exclusive to indie sellers for the time being."

Didn't make the top 10 vinyl for the week - The Boss and The Ramones beat out Green Day with their own RSD releases (I guess EPs are counted as albums for the sake of Billboard?). CD and tape might have pushed it over for top overall, though.

I am interested in seeing where the vinyl ranked in the charts. I doubt it would get that high due to the limited number of pressings.
