Zebahar
I feel like we need a Green Day venting thread. Not unpopular opinions, just a nice therapeutic way to discuss our disdain for drawn out “hey ohs” and such

greendepent
Seeing a lot of shows of the last tour (even making edits of one long multicam) one thought that crossed my head is that the shows were shorter than they did on 21st CB. But also I heard them struggling to keeping up on the encore. There was some JOS performances that way too sloppy. Seems like age is slowly catching up. Anyway, if they need to drop one song that would be JOS. Or, at least rotating it. They can mix it with Forever Now, Homecoming, American Eulogy and Dirty Rotten Bastards. I agree but I do find the lyrics on back in the USA a little strange but I really love the song so I just take it at face value
Popular Post The Grohl
Still don't get the hate for Youngblood. It's not an amazing song, but I think it's fine. It's fun and catchy. I really liked seeing it live! 7
The Bellie
I thought the JOS performances on RevRad were as energetic as one could ask, especially played after Still Breathing, Forever Now and American Idiot, all 3 demanding songs. Also I don't know if I'm in the minority thinking this but even though I would agree straight away to remove JOS from the setlist if it were to replace it with Forever Now (although I kinda doubt it will happen!), JOS is one of the AI classics I prefer seeing live and wouldn't mind as such seeing again. FN is my personal fave but JOS is still very badass, precisely the way I saw it played in 2017, it was nailed to perfection. I also really enjoy Holiday and BOBD. I would let go more easily of AI (song) and Letterbomb
Miko
I still hate Revolution Radio (the album) so much. Not a single enjoyable song imo. I've tried dozens of times to play album from start to finish but I just can't enjoy it at all. The more I listen trilogy, the more I love it. Holy hell, I've always hated Little Boy Named Train but recently I learned that song on guitar and lyrics are actually not that bad.. beautiful song. Now I understand why Billie said ''that song is so me''. Secret shows in 2011 were the best thing Green Day has ever done if we don't count albums and songs. I dislike Mike's solo singing live, but I have no problem in studio. Don't know why. I recently discovered Take Back again. I don't know why it's so fucking catchy but I can't stop playing it. I guess this makes song far more enjoyable than anything in Revolution Radio. ¡Dos! is still the best album ever. It's basically a mix between the trilogy and AI/21CB

They both have that slightly rock n roll, bouncy catchy songs thing going on. Bouncing Off the Wall and Youngblood sound like they're straight off the trilogy. Can't think of another Green Day album it sounds more similar to. Revolution Radio could be accused of that since the lyrics are quite vague but Bang Bang literally describes a mass shooter's thought process in the first person, can't see how that could be considered meaningless. Also there's loads of songs with deeply personal lyrics like Somewhere Now, Forever Now, Outlaws, Still Breathing. Idk but I find the lyrics on Rev Rad some of their most direct, honest and relatable.

Lyrics might be more personal aswell but they don't make it any better, since Still Breathing is way too poppy for my taste, Outlaws is way too slow, Forever Now is discussed to death and Somewhere Now is the best from these songs. After all, it's just my own, horrible, unpopular opinions and I appreciate someone ''fixing'' my opinions and giving another perspective. Thank you. I think in another interview in early RevRad, after playing a few shows, he said he enjoyed the most playing Forever Now. Honestly I think all the AI songs especially those they always play are great, and I love Letterbomb as well, but if I were to choose some AI songs to go in order to let way for other songs (in a purely hypothetical way!) I would keep Holiday and BOBD over Letterbomb and AI, just personal preference. But I doubt the song AI will get out (and I don't even want it to, for that matter) given how relevant it is these days... and the most important is that the boys keep playing what they want.
Jirachi
I love RevRad but Outlaws is almost always a skip track to me. There's just something about it that makes me dislike it, i don't know what it is.. Every time i listen to RevRad and get to Outlaws i either skip it or think "Ugh i'll stomach it".
