Nope

I mean, it's par for the course by Trilogy standards but that's its own problem 😛 Also when I saw the LIFL tracklist I was so hoping the opening would be a cover of one of my favourite Stones songs:

But alas, it was not to be. I bet they could do a great version though.

I'm not that bothered there was no live album from the RevRad Tour. Sure, I would've selfishly loved it as a memory of the tour (and to have a "proper" Forever Now recording!), but it wasn't logical. Even though I loved the album and tour, neither were deemed their best, nor their biggest and if you think about it, there have been live albums for American Idiot, which was huge and 21st Century Breakdown, which was the peak of their career after AI. They were also as much greatest hits live albums as they were for their corresponding albums. Bowling Parking, Foot In Mouth and Tune In, Tokyo were all quite obscure EPs like Last Night on Earth. Maybe another EP with Bang Bang, Still Breathing and Forever Now (or three other songs) would've been a better idea, but I can see why they didn't even do that.

Plus they hadn’t released a proper greatest hits album since before AI so that was a more pressing need so they did that instead. Had they also done a live album it would have been nearly all the same songs.  Still would have liked a video though, just one complete show professionally shot.

After reflecting on the situation a bit, I think you're right, generally. However, given the lack of pro-shot footage being allowed by management (unlike other bands in the field, such as Foo Fighters, Sum 41 etc.), I think at least a live (video) EP would have been nice and, promotionally speaking, a good idea. I think here is where their management clearly failed. People want to see live footage, even if it's the same songs, the views on YouTube prove it. That's why they should have either allowed more platforms to broadcast/upload their shows (at festivals for example) or released live EPs / more live material on YouTube to compensate. Doing neither wasn't a good move in my opinion.

Yeah I didn't mind that there wasn't a live album/dvd but some kind of show footage would've been nice! Do they think people won't go to see them if they post any footage of their shows? Like, it's the digital age, it would've been easy to put some out for promotion and fans' entertainment or as something for their severely deprived fanclub, as they have in previous times even when they did have a live album/dvd coming out. They didn't even put out photos. Might've made sense if they were putting out a live album/dvd to make people more desperate to buy it but since they weren't I don't get that strategy. Makes no sense.

Yeah, I do definitely wish they'd release more live material on a smaller scale. Wouldn't harm them to upload a bit to YouTube at all, especially when there were cameras at a lot of shows (and the whole summer tour had to be recorded for the amphitheatre screens, too). Like @MillenniumFan said, other bands like them are doing it and it's received well, so it's hardly a dodgy move. But since they can't even upload tour photos for people who pay for Idiot Nation, it doesn't surprise me :P

I still would've preferred a live album/DVD over a greatest hits album. It's been a while since they put out a proper live lp and like others have said I wanted to hear proper recordings of revrad songs live. Greatest hits album is nice but considering so many of the tracks already appear on their previous greatest hits lp I was more interested in a live lp. Even an EP would've been nice.

Not sure how unpopular is it: I don't care about the greatest hits release. I haven't listened to it once. The entire concept of re-releasing songs everyone heard seems stale to me. Back In The USA is cool but I've never heard the new version of Ordinary World.

You have to look at it from the point of view of a casual fan. If I want to listen to a band that’s been around for years and has a ton of albums but I only know a few songs, I’ll always start with a greatest hits collection as my way in. Often that’s all I’ll listen to because many bands have only a few good songs per album so a greatest hits is a way to cut to the chase and just focus on the good stuff.  The fact that Green Day didn’t have a greatest hits release that included AI songs left a big hole in their catalogue. They happen to sell very well, they’re just not for the biggest fans who already listen to the albums in full.

True, that's right. I didn't really think of that, but it's logical.

I care about it because it means I have Green Day prayer candles

And don’t forget we’ve all been ordained into the Church of Green Day and have our certificates to prove it 😂

They lured our addresses out of us with the certificates and sometimes I wonder if one day they're going to show up in my house to punish me for all the bs I've posted about them online

I actually can't wait for a new album because then the God's Favourite Band promo will disappear and I won't experience secondhand embarrassment every time I see it :P

I'd agree but what if the new album ends up being even more embarrassing? :P

Omg it's my favourite promo they've done. Just perfectly irreverent. And all the merch is really cool too. I find it amazing and hilarious that they did that.

I did dream the other night that it wasn't a Green Day album, it was just Billie playing electropop with Morrissey.

So maybe I shouldn't complain.

That's a nightmare but at the same time I'd like to know what it sounded like.

Greatest Hits albums are not really relevant anymore. I understand back in the mid 90's the internet was a new thing and everyone was running 56k so even though downloading was a thing it would take an eternity and if you were excited about a band you just got into you're willing to splurge the $10-$20 to hear them put their best foot forward and hear what they may have had out before you were aware.

In the 2000's I did grab International Superhits after hearing most of it at a friends place. It was a good intro to pre-American Idiot Green Day stuff. However, now we can literally see their top 5 singles in the recommended section of YouTube or see the top 5 streamed songs on Spotify. I wouldn't bother pressing a greatest hits album but I would probably suggest a band to make a greatest hits playlist for their spotify page for when potential new fans hit the page.

You didn't really miss anything with other version of Ordinary World. I'm not a huge Miranda Lambert fan and personally I think it would have just been better if Norah Jones was on it.

Yes to this! He and Norah really seemed to click and their voices sounded so good together I would love to see them co-write and record an album of original music.

I agree. Their album together was amazing and I'd love more of that collab. If Green Day want to take a turn for a new direction, this would be one I'd enjoy.

I agree, it was pure, perfect Green Day, I loved it.  Felt so much more them than a management group.

I'd never thought of it that way, but I do the same and go to greatest hits whenever I look up a new (established) artist! Funny it takes other people to point out the obvious sometimes 😅

I don't like the new ordinary world .... Love the Billie only version though
