Christian's Inferno!
Oddly enough, I used to think Brutal Love was one of the weaker songs of the trilogy. Now, it's definitely in my top 3 trilogy songs

I didn't get to hear it live at my show because Billie played 21 guns acoustic (which was beautiful). I find it so beautiful live. I was lucky to hear it right before 21 Guns in Hyde Park, my last Green Day concert to date.
Guest
The trilogy hate is basically a myth. Everywhere there's posts about 'I dOnT gEt ThE hAtE 4 tHe TrIlOgY' followed by almost everyone sharing the same opinion that while some songs are very weak or even terrible, others are fucking great. Few times have I seen someone claiming to hate the trilogy but, again, everywhere there's posts where people have this idea of it being pretty much universally hated. Similar thing happens with Warning. 'DoEs AnYoNe ElSe ThInK wArNiNg Is UnDeRrAtEd By GrEeN dAy FaNs???' followed by basically everyone going 'OMG YES I LOVE THAT ALBUM'. How the fuck is it underrated when so many people keep posting about how great and underrated it is? 😄

There's plenty of reviews I've seen where people are very critical of the trilogy, including YouTube reviewers and such, and if you go on the comment section of any Green Day related video, you can't go 5 minutes without seeing someone criticizing the trilogy. I agree that on here, the trilogy doesn't get as much hate now as it did previously but it's definitely not a myth. If you look at any poll of favourite Green Day albums or ranking of albums, the trilogy will always be at or near the bottom. Regarding Warning, it was basically the same thing but the hate it gets has just lessened after time. At its release, it was considered a commercial and critical failure, but throughout time the album is considered as one of Green Day's best by many fans. But again, there are some people that still hate it or dislike it. I'd say Warning is underrated, not really because it gets a lot of hate but more so because not that many are familiar with it compared to their other albums.

I know it's low ranked but what I am talking about is the fact that people claim it to be universally hated which is just not the case. Everyone is so damn dramatic when it comes to the trilogy hate, it's just not as bad as people make it out to be. Lots of people enjoy it and the criticism for it is almost always the same. All I'm saying is that liking the trilogy isn't rare as many people seem to think and the so called hate for it is extremely blown out of proportion. Yes, I know how Warning was recieved as well but the fact stands that it is not underrated by fans. It was for a while but not anymore. As I said, when something is constantly posted about as underrated it's quite obvious that it isn't anymore. Obviously not talking about casual fans who've only heard the hits from AI and Dookie since they haven't heard most GD albums.

Every album, even ones that are considered by most to be terrible, at least have their defenders. But the trilogy is still hated by a significant amount of people. I don't think people have a problem accepting that the trilogy has some good songs. But most people consider it lackluster, while others flat out hate it or love it. But even the people who love it most likely won't consider it their favourite or one of their favourite Green Day projects. As I said before, you can't go into a comment section of a Green Day video without seeing hate for the trilogy, especially if you go into a video for their older music i.e Insomniac. I don't think the hate is "blown out of proportion".

I agree that liking the trilogy isn't that rare among Green Day fans but the hate was dramatic . When it comes to other albums I agree with you but trilogy hate was real. The people who hate it have moved on from talking about it now but it used to be difficult to even discuss the albums without multiple people hating on it and acting like anyone who liked them was foolish and shutting down the discussion as if it was ridiculous to give something so "objectively" terrible any thought. I know there's always been people who like it too but it's still Green Day's most disliked album for sure, unlike with other "unpopular" albums even most of the people who like it would rank it low. It's always the vocal minority who feel strongly that you hear the most (first that was people who hated it, now it's people who love it who still care about it enough to defend it), but among those in the middle it's definitely the Green Day album that can most accurately be called disliked or underrated.

Yeah but I put up a good fight - with BJ's rehab & the trilogy release etc there was not much happening apart from arguing in this thread😁 30 minutes ago, Second favourite son said: Same, though I do go through periods where I’m polarized either way. The Grohl
I don't like Love is for Losers, period. It's not a bad album, but to me there was nothing that grabbed my attention. So, I was surprised how many people went nuts over it.

At least it makes it a bit less annoying to not get a CD of it I suppose . I really loved all the other artwork that Billie posted on Instagram etc, totally cool. Squashie
I was really disappointed in the album art as well. He was so creative with everything on insta that it was just blahhh. LOVE the actual music though. Still on rotation in my car & at work.
Hermione
Oh yeah I love the music too! It brings back memories of Stop Drop and Roll ten years ago: sneaky cryptic stuff to work out, an awesome little club tour to follow and a fabulous album to listen to all summer.
