Blasphemy & Genocide: Unpopular Green Day Opinions, Part 2

I like that it was a big achievement for the band and that it probably helped inspire/expand Billie's songwriting/creativity etc. And seeing Billie as St Jimmy was great. But otherwise it's not for me. Can't stand any cast song performances :P

Yeah, the only times I would listen to cast versions would be when I'm actually seeing the show, otherwise the original is always superior.

Yeah I wasn't thrilled about the Broadway show. I was just happy that the boys were doing what they wanted and it was successful. I only wanted to see it when Billie was in the cast. After that, zero interest.

I'd  easily cut WICA, AWTW/St. Jimmy, Hitchin a Ride, KYE, and Holiday to make room for less played singles and non single fan favorites in the set.

After checking that we are in the unpopular opinions thread, so I can safely say this here... I would prefer that they delete AI and JOS from the setlist and keep Are We The Waiting and Saint Jimmy. Make place for other songs and especially 21st CB (I would love that they play again Static Age for instance) and trilogy songs. KYE can go and be replaced by 99 Revolutions.

Agree except for Hitchin A Ride (and AWTW if I was at the catwalk :P). Throw in JOS and She too, wouldn't miss any of that selection.

While loving LIFL I'm not a fan of the 3 EPs from The Longshot. Everyone seems to love them but I only really enjoy Fever Blister.

Same here. The other EP songs are okay, but nothing special imo. Fever Blister is the only one that I'm listening to regularly, I love it. But maybe I just need to give the other songs more time.

not sure this counts as unpopular considering the love for devil's kind, but yeah, Devil's Kind should have been on Revolution Radio instead of Ordinary World. I like Ordinary World but Devil's Kind balls so hard

I think Body Bag should have replaced OW for a RevRad album closer. It has a similar sad yet contended feel but is a little funnier and just a better song. Glad he finally released it though either way. Devil’s Kind would have fit anywhere on RevRad too but if he likes a sentimental closer that has some kind of resolution I think Body Bag could have worked well.

While I do massively prefer Devil's Kind over both OW and Body Bag, I still wouldn't have wanted it on RevRad. I just feel like OW fits on the album better than the other two, even if it is probably the weakest song of the three imo.

I feel like Body Bag is sarcastic and that's not what he was going for at the end of revrad

I know and that’s why he didn’t do it but it’s still my preference because it would have added a little more humor that I think the album lacks.

Yes it would have and maybe it would be a nice fun ending to the serious album. I think he was going for a Hollywood happy ending with OW

Devil's Kind is cool. But it doesn't fit anywhere on RevRad. Also, it's lyrics could have made a backlash like "oh, no, BJ is writing about parties and irresponsibility again" and then making guesses about his health.

So it's the best that could have happened to that song. Is song for a movie, so nobody will associate with the rehab stuff.

I hope he doesn't let possible backlash get in the way of his artistic choices.

Billie Joe is very straigthfoward about his choices. Do you remember the trilogy? And the man is going on

Agreed. But also agree it wouldn't have fit on Rev Rad anyway

I'm on team not getting the hype for it :P. It's a good song but not a particular standout, prefer most of the songs on LIFL

OW is still my favorite song of the 3, followed by Body Bag, and then Devil's Kind. I enjoy that song a lot but I was one of the few not desperately waiting for The Longshot to get it out at last :P but it's great that they did

I agree it wouldn't have fit, maybe instead if BOTW (but I love BOTW so I wouldn't want it replaced :P)

It's a fun song though

I agree, but do you think they would've made Devils Kind or Body Bag different to better fit into the album?

For example, the drums in the beginning of Devils Kind have a hint of distortion in them for that standout sound in the beginning. Whereas the drums in songs like bang bang have lot more of a restricted feel to them imo.

Idk, but I probably wouldn't have wanted them to do that anyway. I love Devil's Kind just the way it is, and if that means it's released separately instead of on an album, that's fine by me.

I despise warning (the song). I think that's unpopular?

Despise probably is. I do find it quite mediocre though and don't think it's particularly beloved. I don't like the "loudspeaker" type vocal effects in it, always find that a bit cringy :P
