I never noticed before, but if you got rid of the title on this album cover, it REALLY looks like it should be a Ramones album cover. Maybe I'm just crazy

My unpopular opinion is that the final versions of the trilogy songs are better, as a whole, than the Demolicious versions. I absolutely love Demolicious, I find a unique vibe to it, but if I had to choose, I'd choose the trilogy versions of the same songs; I'd mostly be missing some vocal feats of Billie's on Demolicious, and also the bridge lyrics in Let Yourself Go and Oh Love, Demolicious versions (so we do agree on that, if I understand your post's end well), even though I'm not sure to hear well what Billie says on the bridge of Demo Oh Love, but I'm fascinated by his voice there that I find astonishing, and I would like to know exactly what he says:

I  have listened to this quite a lot to try and work it out too, but if you are thinking it's a language thing @Kuromignonne I don't think it is, I don't think he's written that bit yet

The cartoony style could be quite Ramonesy, I see what you mean.

Drama Queen is great and one of the best songs on the trilogy.

Nuclear Family isn't great and is super overrated. Stay The Night is overrated too.

Don't agree about DQ. That's my least favourite trilogy song. You might be kind of right about NF and STN. I mean, they don't get a lot of love cause they're trilogy tracks but they do get more than most trilogy tracks and I'm not sure if they should. There are quite a few better tracks on the trilogy imo.

I don't agree with any of that:o

Although I like the first 2 - Stay the Night is one of the best from the trilogy .

I gotta be honest here and say I absolutely love Walking Alone as well as every song on Nimrod. I don't know how to explain it, but Nimrod just makes me a feel a certain way when I listen to it. I know it's weird, but I feel like I connect with each song on a personal level in some way... Even though I have no idea what half these songs are even about.

Especially Uptight.

Half the songs are about drinking. You can decide which ones. 😁

Drama Queen makes me so uncomfortable. I'm not entirely sure why, definitely in part because of the lyrics and partly how he sings it. If I had to pick a least favorite song though of their entire catalogue, that would be it.

Lady Cobra is by far their best song. I know people will disagree with me, but man. It's so simple and effective. Story is that recently when I was drunk as fuck and listening this song, I wanted to make cover of it. I fell in love with those instruments and Billie's voice sounds extra fresh. Also very rare dual-solo with Jason and Billie + those lyrics.. I mean, look at this.

''Drink and kiss for cheap guitars"

I like Lady Cobra except for the giggle at the beginning. That's like nails on a chalkboard to me.

Also, the line is drinking piss for cheap guitars.

Tre is my least favourite Trilogy album (the first five songs are some of my all time favourites and I like the rest, just less than Uno or Dos) but yeah, I've always liked Drama Queen. The "she's old enough to bleed now" line never bothered me, the only one I find a bit cringey is "she is so wet and reckless". I think the song works both with the original meaning (being about celebrities) but also how it fits into the theme of a relationship with a younger person on the Trilogy.

I'd also love to know what the hell Billie is singing in the Demolicious version of Oh Love, but I don't suppose we ever will

I can't think of it as being about a relationship with a younger person, that would really be extremely gross when it's talking about old enough to bleed and daddy's little bundle of joy :P. I like to think the original meaning stands (and that the fling described on the trilogy isn't necessarily a younger person, I don't get the impression that it's particularly about an age gap relationship).

That song always reminded me of someone like Miley Cyrus or some other Disney Channel star who transitioned from being a cute kid celebrity to a messed up over sexualized adult one.  The line “old enough to bleed” has a nice double meaning of growing up and also of an age where the tabloids can beat you up and all the scandals and celebrity drama happens.

Well it'd definitely be gross if it meant her literally being "old enough to bleed now" I interpret it as an exaggerated metaphor for the subject growing up and facing hardship though, and the exaggeration reflecting how she's seen as a "drama queen". I've always thought the "fling" was with a younger person because of how much emphasis there is on age in Angel Blue, then she comes across as very youthful on Dos.

(Disclaimer: of course that's just my personal interpretation of the lyrics, I'm not implying they're literally about a fling with anyone, young or old :P )

I've always said I would love Drama Queen if I didn't understand English.  Love the music, love Billie's voice, but just can't get past the lyrics.   All three lines, old enough to bleed now, Daddy's little bundle of joy, and she is so wet and reckless, I just cringe at all of them.   I know they're not meant to be taken literally, but you just can't help but think of a 12 year old getting her period/starting to become a woman.

Totally, that's what Billie said it was about when it was almost on 21st CB and he gave some descriptions of the songs before it came out. He mentioned about how they're creepily exploited by their families as well, "old enough to bleed" also meaning old enough for the family/everyone who has a stake in their fame to exploit.

Yeah I agree that's what the line means. And it could be a fling with a youthful person for sure, I just think it's more a generally lively and exciting person who could very well be young, but wouldn't necessarily have to be much younger. I've basically just never thought of it as a song about the character he had a fling with. But thinking about it maybe you're right and it could be loosely implied as being about her in the past/her background? That would work and would tie it in. Although there's other songs on there that don't really relate to the stories (eg 99 Revolutions) so who knows.

I think that's the idea. It's about the creepy subject of young women being exploited so deliberately creepy imagery is used.

Part of me wants to know what Drama Queen would've been like if it were on 21CB because I feel like it would've been very different than the version on Tré. Although part of me is glad it wasn't on 21CB cause I feel like it might've ruined the album for me. I'm pretty sure it was replaced by Murder City, which I think is a very good thing because that is a great song and definitely belongs on 21CB

Yeah, Murder City fits a thousand times better on 21CB than Drama Queen (and is a much better song, I think).

That line reminds me of Tight Wall Hill

Turning tricks for speed balls
One more night

Lady Cobra was a favourite first listen.
