Chin for a Day
1 minute ago, Jenn. said: The way I see Christian's Inferno is that the verses are him on the edge, and the chorus is the fall into insanity, hence the upbeat sound to it. From a musical point of view it sorta makes sense to me that way. Take Back is alright but the verses are kind of annoying in some places because it sounds like he's just run out of angry things to say and is just spouting nonsense If that is what Christians Inferno was supposed to show, then in my mind it is an absolute failure. The way you describe Take Back is exactly why I hate it. He is in a rage and I don't find any enjoyment out of listening to that.

The way the chorus soars just kinda gives me this feeling of him losing his mind and I think it fits in that context. I don't mind angry Billie at all. It's just the way his voice is kinda drowned out by the instruments combined with the lack of enunciation in Take Back that makes it less good than other angry songs (like Platypus for example)
Beerjeezus
Raging Billie is the best. Take Back is one of their funniest songs. He sounds like a pissed off harmless creature. 2

I thought a lot of the Warning lyrics were genius, and the slogan type was actually a reason why I thought that. "A conscientious objector to the war that's in my mind" is one that sticks out. Though funnily enough you've pinpointed my least favourite lyric, just because I think it doesn't make a lot of sense. I think 21CB took some cues from Warning in terms of songwriting style as it has some similar traits. I don't hate it but like I said it just isn't to my taste the way other albums lyrics are, I'm not even sure exactly what it is about it. 21st CB's lyrics have a very different vibe imo but yeah one thing I do appreciate a lot about the lyrics on Warning is that it was the start of a more outward looking viewpoint that would later lead to American Idiot and 21st CB. 39 minutes ago, Jane Lannister said: Raging Billie is the best. Popular Post Hermione
I think Billie's angry/spiteful lyrics are some of his best. Dookie, Insomniac, Nimrod, they're full of them and they're excellent. "I'd love to break your fucking teeth", "you better grow some eyes in the back of your head" and then the snotty attempt at growling, rawr I love it! 7

The Grohl
I love Take Back and I like Christian''s Inferno. Never got the hate for that either. I don't like The Forgotten. It's a pretty forgettable ballad by them - they have way better ones.

AmyxLongview
I'm surprised so many people like Christian's Inferno. The chorus is what ruins the song for me, it's just lazy and one of their worst choruses

Christian's Inferno!
I don't get the hate for Christian's Inferno. Although I may be biased since my name is Christian It's not my favourite song on 21CB, simply because I find so many songs on the album so amazing but I appreciate the different style and the fact that it's one of the only songs that focuses more on the story of the album than the music itself and it's basically the only song that personifies the character of Christian

Well references aren't the same thing. I mean, American Eulogy references him too but I think this song is more than just a brief mention of the character's name but rather a personification of the character's personality. I'm not saying those references don't mean anything though, I'm just saying it's different in the song Christian's Inferno

Fashion Victim's lyrics are pretty awkward and cringy at times, I agree with it being among their worst. I love the lyrics of See the Light but it's a bit too stadium-y. When he goes "I-I-I, I just wanna see the light" it's impossible not to think of Kiss going "I-I-I, wanna rock and rock all night" The only thing I can agree with here is Brutal Love. Personally I think it's their best ballad (just the right amount of emotion and blusiness. Love that song. I do love Nightlife unlike everyone else but it sounds extremely close (and no, I don't think they bit it) to a guy that's called Har Mar Superstar. I pointed this out when Trill songs were finally released. I heard them perform it at a FBHT show a while before it was released w/ Lady Cobra and all. Ill go see if I can find the song I'm talking about. Har Mar is a very large (thick) dude and he is bald but if you JUST listened to his music you would think he was Justin Timberlake. He has a cult following in LA for showing up at parties and small events and acts like he's super sexy and he's so not. It's a fucking riot and I was listening to his music before I ever saw him live for the first time. You would have no idea what the dude looks like. "Bird in the Hand" (Below) especially sounds like Nightlife at around 1:40. It's super old so let me go see if I can find it. Well I can't find a video but here is an Apple Music link. At about 1:20ish, tell me that doesn't sound like Lady Cobra. BTW, he's a Menapolisian Hollywood transplant. Tell me this song doesn't sound like Nightlife. "Bird in the Hand". https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/bird-in-the-hand/id383550640?i=383550670 And for some more Har Mar fun (tell me he doesn't sound like Timberlake). I actually love this song: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/save-the-strip/id383550640?i=383550663 One of my personal Har Mar songs: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/cut-me-up/id383550640?i=383550657 Listen to the above songs first. I don't even know this one but after listening to the songs above, check out Har Mar in all his glory. This is the only video I could find. As for 21CB, it's just the phrases he uses in that album that remind me of Warning sometimes - although obv 21CB has more imagery and stuff. Like the piano intro and some lyrics in the demo I'm sad didn't make the cut, but I much prefer the final little guitar bit in the final version because it's like a scale higher and just sounds more grand or something. But yeah "I'm taking a loan on my sanity for the redemption of my soul" SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE ALBUM VERSION

And IMO the lyrics were way better too, "we are the class of the class of 13" doesn't even make sense compared to "we are the cries of the class of 13" and "there is a war that's inside my head that questions the results and lies" is so much better
