The Grohl
I think it has more to do with how much they play it rather than the song itself. I understand they've done it on almost every tour with the same covers and interludes. It's one of those performances where you've seen it once you've seen it forever. So I understand why people are tired of it. I've only seen GD twice and I'm kind of over it.
Hermione
They play all their songs the same show to show/tour to tour though. At least with KFAD they've changed some of the antics/stuff said/band members that sing/outfits/covers etc between tours. I would say the covers they play could do with changing up as they've been the same for a while but other than that it's varied more than most of their song performances have.
Eric
KFAD/Shout hate is sad! I can't wait to see it live the second time I seem them!
Beerjeezus
Have I ever mentioned how much I love Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life? It's the best part of the medley, I love it. So much fun to sing along
herewegoagain
My one and only beef with KFAD and the Shout medley is how he starts riling up the crowd with the clapping and the wey-heys at the end of Satisfaction before totally u-turning onto a slow and tender Hey Jude verse. It makes no sense!

Anything off Nimrod, should stay in the set imo. That being said I would have no problem if they dropped the Shout medley that comes right after it. I'm still surprised they still enjoy the shout medley. I'm a done with it too, but if it keeps them having fun on tour I'm all about it.
Libertine Angel
I'm still of the opinion they could replace KFAD with Dirty Rotten Bastards if they wanted.

Having just listened to Tre for the first time a couple of weeks ago, they definitely need to give some of those songs a go live. Brutal Love, X Kid. Definitely Dirty Rotten Bastards

I think it is fun, plus Billie sings to me in the medley. I want them to cut Jesus of Suburbia. I think it just falls flat live. Plus, it is long and they could do 3 more different songs in its place Jesus of Suburbia is the best GD song so you can't cut it. You just can't.

Hermione
I mean it's a great song and I can see why a lot of people consider it their best since it's long and epic and tells a classic teenage angst/coming of age story and everything. But as a live performance? Honestly don't know how anyone could say it's their best live song, it just isn't. Like they don't really do anything with it and it isn't even the best live American Idiot song performance, if you've seen them this year you've seen a better/more passionate/more entertaining AI song performance right before it (American Idiot) and a better/more powerful/more emotional multi part song performance before that (Forever Now). Unless it's just that it's your favourite GD song I can't see anything particularly special about seeing it performed live compared to any other song on their setlist.

"Forever Now" was great to see on this tour, but I don't have any desire to see it on future tours. Where "Jesus of Suburbia" I do. I'd honestly rather see "Dirty Rotten Bastards" then Forever Now. Just like you don't get the hype about "Jesus of Suburbia", I don't get the hype about "Forever Now". It's fits perfectly in the album sequencing but live to me it's just another song. If they had opened the shows with "Somewhere Now" and closed the main set before the encore with "Forever Now" I'd say it would be more special live to me. deadair
I'd rather see them do a full cover than the Shout medley. I'd kill to see "A Quick One, While He's Away" in particular. Although I'd love to see "Working Class Hero", "Like a Rolling Stone", "Outsider", "Tired of Waiting For You" or "My Generation" as well. That being said I think they could make the Shout medley much more interesting if they switched up what songs they did in it from tour to tour. Don't get me wrong I love "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" and "Hey Jude", but I know on occasion in the past they did "It Won't Be Long" by The Beatles and "Champagne Supernova" by Oasis which are both songs I love and would get a lot out of seeing Billie sing those since I haven't before. It would have been cool if he did a Soundgarden song and/or a Linkin Park song in the medley this year as tributes.
Popular Post greendepent
JOS needs to take a break. I received a recording from this month and that song sounded terrible. Even if the song is not my cup of tea, you clearly can hear how bored the band of playing it. I'm sure if Green Day mixed up the sets more drastically, it would help people to know other songs and not only the classics, Dookie, American Idiot and the stuff that they are promoting. Also, I'm sad that BJ cut Ordinary World from the setlist. I mean, after 7 years of the last performance of 21 guns, is cool to hear it again, but not at expenses of a new song.

I completely agree about "Ordinary World" I just watched the Wrigley Field footage and "Jesus of Suburbia" sounded great to me! The recording you had was probably just on an off-night for that song.
Popular Post MillenniumFan
I always hear people talking about replacing a certain song, or adding a certain song permanently. How about it isn't a question of replacing, but rather alteration, variety, constant change ups. So, if JOS or KFAD should be temporarily be replaced one day by Homecoming, some old rarities another, a few unplayed songs from RevRad the next show etc, I'd definitely support that. That would be the ideal situation in my mind. Don't change the core structure of the setlist, but rather alternate between certain songs. I'd rather miss a certain song I love and hear something else rarely played, or some song that makes the setlist of my show different to all the others...

Yeah, that's kinda how Pearl Jam does their setlists and it definitely makes it more special from show to show. If I went to a show and they didn't play "Jesus of Suburbia" (my favorite GD song), but played "Homecoming" or "Dirty Rotten Bastards" in it's place I'd still be a very happy camper, especially since I've never seen the latter two live and they're kickass songs. As long as they don't drop "Jesus of Suburbia" permanently I wouldn't be upset.
MillenniumFan
Off topic: just mistakingly used the wrong reaction, still gotta get used to this haha, but that's pretty much it: I'd absolutely sacrifice not getting a hundred percent guarantee of them playing a particular song for more variety / change ups and uniqueness...

pacejunkie punk
Is this the place I come to to admit I don't like the song Outlaws? The melody sounds a little whiny, too slow and nostalgic it sounds like something you'd put at the end of your career. I want to slap them out of it and yell, "Stop it! You're not done yet!" I think it should have been done with a faster tempo so it doesn't come off as so depressing. There I said it, thanks for letting me vent. 😘
