Leave it to Green Day guys. Don't be mad, just my unpopular opinion. I'm sure they are all great people It's always seemed a bit pointless to me to do a straight-up cover of a song on YouTube - if I want to listen to it I'll listen to the original. I'm all for putting your own spin on it tho

UNICORN VOMIT
Besides KFAD medley crap the only song that seemed not to hit its mark on the OZ tour was WICA. I don't know what is was but the energy died. Perhaps it was played too slow? I hate saying anything bad about my favourite GD song & the song that got me into them.

Also my favorite and I assumed my heart would explode when I heard it live for the first time. Sadly the audience count in was the best part of the song live. Hey guys, speed it up just a bit for the summer tour, okay? Thanks.
Popular Post MillenniumFan
They've always played it quite slow, since it's quite a slow song on the album. But, I've compared the live performance of Spark Arena to previous live performances in 2009 and yeah, they've always played it slightly slower than on the album, live performances at Munich, Saitama (Tokyo) and Pink Pop were comparatively quick/slow. I think during the 99 Revolutions Tour it was then played quicker again (see live at Reading or Rock Am Ring), but now it's slightly slower once more. I also noticed that they played it marginally quicker on the second night in Auckland than on the first, but it's only a tiny difference. I think the problem is, they've become a lot more consistent when it comes to tempo. This means, if they start out at a certain speed, they'll most likely remain at that. So, when Billie does this 1, 2, 1234 thing with the crowd, it gives him quite a slow starting tempo... Their playing on this tour has been a lot more precise and consistent than on the 99 Revolutions tour, where it was more sloppy and less consistent, therefore however more energetic... Btw. coincidentally this is my favorite song too!

I would've liked if they'd swapped it for maybe Walking Contradiction? Even Warning or Waiting, or something from Insomniac!

Well I will say that KFAD was the worst energy drain out of the 5 nights I saw - I mean I didn't think BJ was ever gonna get up off the dam floor. I wonder if they realise that at shows without screens, everyone past the front row is just staring at an empty stage for 5 minutes But I can't hate on KFAD, I love it and it's my dad's favourite Green Day song

Z J
I'm always an ally of the KFAD breakdown, and I have said in the past that the shows really aren't tailored for people like me who have seen it countless times, but it really wouldn't kill em to switch it up at this point. They've been doing the breakdown since the Warning tour as far as I can tell, with only moderate deviations from the same theme as far as the covers they choose. I'm surprised to hear they've kept up with it this tour
UNICORN VOMIT
People say its because they need a rest during the set which I understand but besides when they actually lie down - BJ is quite active. For me the whole set drained of energy.

Mix up the breakdown, do it on a newer song with a drawn out bridge section, cover some other stuff while they're at it. I imagine people will still enjoy the antics on another song
Popular Post Hermione
I like the change of pace you get from things like the KFAD breakdown or slower songs. I'm usually knackered and could do with a break myself , and it's just nice for the whole show not to be the same relentless pace. Never get bored during it either because there's so much singing/shouting along to do.
Libertine Angel
Dirty Rotten Bastards could be a good replacement if they ever did that live; I do like it, but at the same time hours of relentless punk energy is never a thing I'd turn down.
Popular Post Hermione
Yeah another song could definitely work, before KFAD they'd mess around and do call and response during a 10 minute long Paper Lanterns, and now they have songs that are even more suitable. But I also just really like KFAD , so I don't want them to change it . A whole arena of people singing and dancing along to a song about cross dressing/self acceptance is too good a thing to pass up, and it lends itself so well to dressing up and fun shenanigans. It's just the perfect song for them to fully unleash their silly/cheeky/vaudeville/showman-like side.

This is the perfect explanation about KFAD if anyone ever again questions the point of the song and the length of it live. Thank you, haha. belinda jane
I love that no matter how many things are being discussed, it almost always comes back to how much some people are over KFAD.
