I would take the Demolicious version of Rusty James over pretty much anything off RevRad except Bang Bang.

Not gonna go comparing it to revrad I just want to say I love Rusty James and I haven't listened to Demolicious for ages, thanks for reminding me it exists.

Also, that one time they played it acoustic

I would even take the one off Uno over revrad.

I love RevRad most days of the week, and Trilogy aside I'll easily lap up most of Billie's lyrics, but 'hallelujah I found my soul under the sofa pillows' still makes me cringe every time

(probably not an unpopular opinion but referring to the discussion above)

No one of the best lines of the album.

I was happy to hear it in the setlist but there are much better songs from RevRad that could replace it.

Wow, appears I was wrong

It just struck me as so incredibly... literal?, and goofy, the first time I heard it and I can't shake that feeling. Not sure how else to describe it. Not saying Youngblood is any more poignant but it doesn't try to be either, it's cheesy from beginning to end, lyrically and musically. Although neither of them is in my RevRad top 5 I like Somewhere Now overall, I just think that line comes out of nowhere and clashes with the rest of the lyrics and the epic feel of the song.

I'd be happy to be proven wrong though, give me a few more months

He found his soul under the sofa pillows, meaning that after losing his way (as most of the song describes), he ended up finding himself literally under his ass. In other words, it was there the whole time. I love it so much. Then it paves way for the last line, "congratulations I found myself somewhere now", which is in contrast to "I'm running late to somewhere now" at the start, the same phrase but two totally different meanings.

As an aside, the line also makes me think of the Longview video which gives it an extra nostalgic feel :D

That's actually a nice take on it, I'll admit.

I guess the first few listens put me off it a little so I haven't taken the time to get to know the song like I have with others on RevRad. That's what I love about Billie's songs though, there's so much to analyse and discover! Yesterday's posts sparked a couple of album run throughs this morning, and now you've given me an entry point to feeling the lyrics as a whole, so we're already getting somewhere (now) :ninja::lol:

Literally my favourite Green Day lyric of all time. Just reading it described like that gives me goosebumps . And I'll totally always be thinking of the Longview sofa now lol.

That sofa line also reminds me of the sofa in the Longview video HAHA. Youngblood is so damn underrated, it is a great song. I get why it is underrated, but to play it over and over I have enjoyed the shit out of it, very fun to play and sing, I see why Billie loves doing it. It's not a tune you can love within' the first few listens for sure, given the lyrics but the lyrics are actually really good!

Youngblood is so much fun live. I literally screamed every word to that song.

HOW GOOD WAS IT?!
Especially the "she's the cedar in the trees from AUSTRALIA" - when she shouts that part.
And the obvious "Fuck you, I'm from Oakland" line. A classic :P

Even though I don't love the song - it seems to go over better with the crowd than Still Breathing:happy:  Anyway without hijacking the thread - its all fucking great.

I loved it the minute I heard it! I have a habit of picking out my favorite songs immediately, somehow I just know when it hits me right. Some take a while to grow on me, but my very favorite ones were almost all realized the first time I heard them.

Whenever I see Green Day cover songs on YouTube, I can't help but to think it seems kind of corny. Leave it to Green Day guys. Don't be mad, just my unpopular opinion. I'm sure they are all great people :)

I suppose that depends on the cover though. If it's a bad cover, leave it to Green Day. If it's a decent cover but they sound like Green Day wannabes, leave it to Green Day. However, if it's a good cover and they've put their own spin on it, well I think it's nice to hear something different, even though I'll probably prefer the original. :)

Maybe I just heard bad ones or like that dude on here that forces us to click his youtube links if you remember what I am talking about. Either way I am glad you took a positive approach to this I expected to be attacked like no other on here.
