Eric
If Troubled Times was a little more detailed in the lyrics, I would say for sure. it feels like so much more could of been done with the song. Shame!

I mean, you talk about how JOS is describing how every has felt as a teenager, FN goes over board with the edginess. "I want a better way to die", I feel that's a line that should be written by a 16 year old. And the wanting to start a revolution and rebelling part of Green Day is so overdone now. It's at the point where it's annoying. It's really a big complaint I have with this album and this song. I don't think it feel personal, it feels forced I think Forever Now is intensely personal. Specifically that "I want a better way to die" line is filled with so much meaning, it's not angst. If you're doing something to yourself that could kill you and you realize you don't want to go out that way...that's not something a teenager could fathom. But I'm biased, I think Forever Now is the best multi-part song they've ever written. It flows, its coherent, and it feels deeply honest.

Popular Post Beerjeezus
The flow and coherence do it for me. I like that it's different from other long songs they have and I believe FN is a songwriting improvement. It's not a bunch of short songs thrown together but one piece of music.

Homecoming and JOS feel like a bunch of separate songs, FN just flows together.
RedundantIdiot
I like the Somewhere Now part because it links FN with the song Somewhere Now- it's like FN is the thread that ties all of the songs on Rev Rad together. I also like the guitar riffs after I want a better way to die. And it doesn't feel like a song that's nearly 7 minutes long. Also Still Breathing and FN are a perfect pair at the end of the main part of the set- I'm so pleased they chose to play those songs together.
Meliciraptor
I've really tried to get into Homecoming, but I just don't like it that much As for FN and JOS, I love them both equally. FN is more coherent than JOS, but JOS has these really raw emotions. I'm glad they play both songs live, those are my favorite parts of the show! I like all of them, they are all good in their own ways, but FN is different and that's what makes it stand out. It also has great lyrics. "I want a better way to die" may sound emo, but if you read into it a bit more, it's actually very meaningful.

Yes, I always looked at that as he was heading down a certain path, but now that he knows what the good life is, he doesn't want to end up where he was going. So essentially, a better way to die. stories and songs
Troubled Times sounds so fucking awesome live. But knowing how ridiculous these humans are, if they didn't like how the crowd received it or how it sounded, I doubt they'll play it again. And by "these humans" I actually just mean Billie.

Schlappy
Id rather the band take creative risks and produce a mixed bag like the Trilogy than play it safer like they did with Revolution Radio.

Green Day needed an album like RevRad this time around - I would have preferred an album full of BANG BANG type songs but its a good solid album. 21CB is still my go to album - I never get sick of listening to it.
