The thing is people were going to bring up American Idiot whether Green Day addressed Trump or not. Because the situation is like Bush all over again, except even worse. If Green Day felt compelled to speak out 12 years ago, why would that change? Sure, it's convenient publicity wise because they're the "political band" thanks to AI's huge success, but unfortunately that means any stand they take against Trump has the risk of looking disingenuous.

but we know what Billie's stance on Trump has been for ages so it's not like they're jumping on any bandwagon. I'm not sure if those in a position of privilege understand how terrified Trump in power is making a lot of people. What Green Day did was show their support for those people using their privilege, and that's why people are applauding them. It's definitely not all hate. I'm not sure what circles you have to be in to see a majority of negativity but my Facebook and twitter was mostly positive. 

And if you're REALLY gonna drag Green Day for yelling 'No KKK' then maybe you need to look at yourself.

I don't agree with the disrespectful way they talk about the band I've been loving for like 9 years but they have some points. Billie Joe needs to stop bitching cause he comes off as trying to jump on that wagon of hating Trump and trying to use that to sell more records. I mean revrad is a really cool album imo and it's not really political but they try to use politics I guess to make it more relevant and sell more copies? Also maybe it was fresh and new in 2004 but now 12 years later doing the same shit you did back then with Bush but also being and looking 12 years older doesn't make you look cool.

If you wanna just reply with "It's billie he can say whatever he wants, he has an opinion, he wants to state it" I know and I don't care. It's the unpopular opinion thread and I'm trying to discuss and make you think if you haven't on how green day and mostly Billie come off during this last month or so. I have stated it even before the elections I wasn't really keen on Billie attacking on trump on every chance he got and people got mad at me for saying. Now I see so many people feeling the same now as I did even back then(things have obviously gone worst now) I'd like to have a genuine conversation with you people. 

You're wrong to begin with, as I've had friends who aren't fans and even my grandma praise them for taking a stand, and I don't think you're going to elicit a proper discussion from people if you start out by dismissing them as fangirls/boys. That's condescending as hell and I think you're aware of it. I don't see why it makes any difference whether people are taking them seriously with their "political shit" because ultimately it matters whether they are treating it seriously themselves (which they are).

I don't really know why people expect Green Day to suddenly stop talking about politics. They are a political band and obviously, people care about their opinion otherwise there wouldn't have been that many interviews about the election. I think it would be as if Bono suddenly anounced that he doesn't care about politics anymore. It would seem forced and a lot less authentic than if they keep doing what they've done for years.

 I think someone made that joke to me before on here but I was drunk. I meant the album for what it's worth  though I think it was a silly idea to have Brutal Love as the first song. Not as silly as putting Oh Love last on Uno but close.

Sorry, but I think that it's not about getting likes, but about the expression the people make if they agree. You get likes also if somebody agrees with you, so please don't be so negative all the time, this doesn't have to be a war, only because the people have different views than you.

Yeah sorry I can't keep doing it with the same people I did the last time on the french interview thread. To me it seems that you are not seeing my point just because you feel I'm offending your favorite band(which is my favorite band also but anyway) to you I'm a disrespectful son of a bitch who wants to maybe heat things up. It is true, you've said the same stuff before and the same people have replied to you and you've dismissed them because they didn't agree with you. I know, I've read the whole thread.  

It's not about insulting the band, oh my god. It's about you not understanding that the guys aren't attacking Trump because it's cool to do so, they're doing it because, like everyone else who has been protesting, it's about the fact that a fascist will be in power soon. And it doesn't affect those with white male privilege so much, but it will everyone else. If you're still not understanding that and dismissing everyone as 'fangirls' then I don't know what to say to you.

And that's ok that's your opinion let other people that have other opinions express themselves. Have you seen even the comments on green day's facebook? Many people have the same opinion as I do. This is the unpopular opinion the same people made it clear that disagree and that's the popular opinion congrats but let us see if other people have the same opinion in the unpopular thread and stop saying the same shit over and over again, please. I think that @Wretched & Divine made a point with those tweets and that it's nothing new and shocking and definitely not the "train" thing, those tweets were posted years ago. 

But anyway, it's upon you if you want to continue, I've already state my opinion, you'll see
