Blasphemy & Genocide: Unpopular Green Day Opinions, Part 2

Tre is my favorite of the Trilogy, which I don't think is common among GD fans

Isn't that album the closest to most Green Day albums? I have lacked to care to hear the album in full for quite some time. Individually, I think their are some tracks that are alright.

Tre is the Revenge of the Sith of the Trilogy. It's a step up from the worst installment and it did some things well, but not nearly enough of them and not nearly to the standards that had come before. Plus an artificial glaze just hangs over it.

Yeah it is, and there are a few great tracks, and some okay ones too. That being said, a lot of people view the album as inconsistent, which is what turns them away

It is.

Well it's good I put that thought in this thread then

Ridiculous spamming aside, I have to agree that Dos is extremely fabulous . Still my trilogy favourite.

Uno is my favorite. When it was released I said to myself that I haven't heard such perfect GD album since Warning. Every song on it is perfect.

Uno is a solid Green Day album, but Tre is more interesting music-wise. And to say every song on Uno is perfect...I think the words "BMX-cellent tits" is enough to disprove that.

Jimmy don't be so negative, you just don't come up with lyrics like that, there is alot of thought that goes into something so amazingly awful.

I don't really care about the lyrics. To me the songs have to be catchy. Something that makes me hum that song for a while. Uno has great melodies and not a single song I wouldn't like.

The overall sound is what's most important to me too, and I do like everything on Uno, it's just got a few questionable moments.

But one of the greatest things about Green Day songs are often the lyrics. Yes, for the most part, the music is fun and catchy (and I do enjoy the plain fun catchy song myself) but Billie's lyrics can be so touching and true to life that almost everyone can relate to them.

I'm pretty sure that Troublemaker was meant to be a bit of a joke song, maybe something along the lines of Pretty Fly or Cruisin' California by The Offspring. I'm 99% sure that Billie never meant for it to be taken seriously. If he did, he was most likely high when he wrote it, because the line "BMX-cellent tits" is amazingly cringeworthy. However, I did love Uno. I guess that could be considered an unpopular opinion. I was partial to Tre too, but I didn't like Dos much. There was some interesting experimental stuff on aforementioned album, but Nightlife is awful. It's the only GD song that I truly hate with a passion. Fuck Time is also pretty stupid IMHO, but I think that was Billie's intention. I believe I recall him dismissing it as a "big, stupid song" in some interview or another from the Trilogy era....

Fuck Time is the only Dos song I like (FBHT, yay). Fuck Time and X-Kid are the only songs of the Trilogy I like, but rarely I listen to Dirty Rotten Bastards while trying to sleep.

No, Fuck Time is a fun, catchy, awesome song. And as someone said, it was a FBHT song.

I remember I was playing Troublemaker on guitar once and my friend who has never even heard the Trilogy was like, "That sounds like a Green Day riff."

I still stand by Uno > Dos > Tre for enjoyment to me. Liek i listen to uno the most, dos the second msot, and tre the elast. But if i had to put them in order of what id consider better than the other it would probably be Tre > Uno > Dos

I'm really surprised that you said that

Dos isn't actually > the universe, I don't love it that much. I do, however, prefer it to Uno and Tré. I'd rank them Dos > Tré > Uno.
