It's a step up from the worst installment and it did some things well, but not nearly enough of them and not nearly to the standards that had come before. That being said, a lot of people view the album as inconsistent, which is what turns them away It is. Uno has great melodies and not a single song I wouldn't like. But one of the greatest things about Green Day songs are often the lyrics. Yes, for the most part, the music is fun and catchy (and I do enjoy the plain fun catchy song myself) but Billie's lyrics can be so touching and true to life that almost everyone can relate to them. I'm pretty sure that Troublemaker was meant to be a bit of a joke song, maybe something along the lines of Pretty Fly or Cruisin' California by The Offspring. I'm 99% sure that Billie never meant for it to be taken seriously. If he did, he was most likely high when he wrote it, because the line "BMX-cellent tits" is amazingly cringeworthy. However, I did love Uno. I guess that could be considered an unpopular opinion. I was partial to Tre too, but I didn't like Dos much. There was some interesting experimental stuff on aforementioned album, but Nightlife is awful. It's the only GD song that I truly hate with a passion. Fuck Time is also pretty stupid IMHO, but I think that was Billie's intention. I believe I recall him dismissing it as a "big, stupid song" in some interview or another from the Trilogy era....
