Blasphemy & Genocide: Unpopular Green Day Opinions, Part 2

I think it's just funny, he's poking fun at the idea that he's this rockstar sex symbol, teasing the crowd by playing up to it for a moment before laughing at himself, and taking them out of their comfort zone at the same time (which he's always been an expert at!). Haven't seen him do the full wanking routine since AI times but he still does some teasing during Hitchin A Ride sometimes, humping his guitar and telling the crowd to make sex noises during the 21st CB tour and saying "do you want to touch it?" and stuff during the last tour , so he's still at it.

It's a bit cringeworthy, but that's about it. Most of GD's fans are probably teenagers, not kids. So that's not even true.

"Android" is one of the best songs on Kerplunk and easily the most energetic.

Yet according to setlist.fm Green Day hasn't even played it live... Once... Come on, that's just insulting.

I just love how he goes "Waste awaaaaaay" followed by Tre's kick ass drumming. Just a great song and probably my most listened to one Kerplunk (Next to "No One Knows", of course).

Agreed! I just love the chorus! "And it seems so frightening, time passes by like lightning, before you know it you're struck down"

Yeah the masturbating shtick was unnecessary to me. I just thought it was a bit pointless and took up time when they could be playing another song. Like Hermoine said, I don't think he does that anymore though. I'll be curious to see what changes they make, if any, in their sets to entertain the crowd for their next tour :) they know how to keep things interesting!

But, anyway... it's basically just a "shock value" stunt. I doubt he actually find himself sexy while doing it. I assume it's just meant to be funny and idiotic, not offensive, serious or actually sexy. (Even though the man looks good doing basically anything...)

Replacing 99 Revs with Nightlife as the opening song

Extending King for a Day by ten minutes, now with twerking and Satanic rituals!

Moar Trilogy

Playing All by Myself a number of times in a row

Adding Like a Rat Does Cheese and Boys in the Bathroom Stall as set staples

Good Riddance is replaced as the standard closer by Tre Cool performing "I'm A Little Teapot" a capella.

I find the hair more offensive than the fact he got a DUI. ALSO, FUCK YOU. :P

Of all the songs to pick, you went with Loss of Control?

actually, it's more energeric than many trilogy songs. The lyrics are not special, but I think it would work live, because we wouldn't focus on them so much as on the album. What I can tell from the Quatro live recording, Loss Of Control is a pretty good live song. I'm not sure if it would work as a starter, but I wouldn't say so about any Trilogy song.

I'd go to the show just for that! Although they better throw in a harmonica solo in there

Nuclear Family would actually be a pretty good opener, I reckon. It works well as an album opener, at least, which is more than can be said for Brutal Love.

True. Brutal Love doesn't make sense as an album opener. It should've been a closer instead of The Forgotten. (In case the latter would be omitted.)

Nuclear Family would be a good gig opener. Rusty James would work as well if only it didn't sound exactly like Scattered.

Nah, Rusty James would be better towards the end of the set.

Disagree - Tre is all about feeling sorry for the fuck ups in dos. Brutal love sets the tone for the album.

I actually love it but I can see why some people don't like it. I still respect your opinion :)
