II had never even heard about this "Arica," tbh...

She's Mike Pelino's sister. He's in The Enemies, and played rhythm guitar on the Bullet in a Bible tour.

Thought Erica was the She girl?

Well, they dated before Billie met Adie, so it's entirely possible she's She. The Enemies were a Lookout! band around the same time as Green Day.

Wait, the one that 1,000 Hours is about? I get my gals mixed up, clearly.

I was told it was about one of his friend's sisters. So, who wants to start a spreadsheet?

Then it's probably about her. I do not volunteer as tribute.

Yeah, I thought 1000 Hours was about Mike Pelino's sister (well, not absolutely but someone in another thread put various statements together). I might do the chart at some point, but no guarantees.

2/1 odds that Todd already has a spreadsheet. And all of the girls' home addresses and Social Security Numbers.

Billie tweeted about quite a few of the old songs about girls.

Well at least that's settled the debate as to whether or not Amanda actually is called Amanda.

Well I mean, it was on American Idiot: The Original Broadway Cast recording (or whatever that album is called), so I guess we could say it already is on a Green Day album.

I wouldn't really count that as a Green Day album

I'd say Amanda (if he did date a girl with that name) and Adrienne are two pretty common names...

Oh, I had no idea these two were common. I thought they weren't either :P

Every name is normal to me.

What a truly empathetic thing to say

Dirty Rotten Bastards is the best song off of Tre from a musical standpoint. I don't care that the lyrics suck complete ass, because let's be real, it's not the kind of song for which lyrics matter. Driving on the freeway with that middle section pumping at full volume makes you feel like a complete badass. Now, I will say I'd prefer heavier guitars, but that's why there's this version:

Which, IIRC, Todd has a lossless version of.

Sure, if you don't instantly recognize "Chanson du Toreador" and find yourself immediately turned off by Green Day blatantly ripping off an opera classic.

Sure I recognize that it's a ripoff, I just don't much care. When it comes to music, steal from the best, if you're good at it.

Oh yes. (Actually had this conversation in the Movie Club, I think.) I don't care that his melodies for Star Wars largely drew from classical pieces, because it's what suited the films, and Williams himself is an extremely talented man. If all he did was steal from other composers I'd be irritated with him, I'm sure, but he writes more original stuff very well too. So do I give a fuck that the Imperial March was stolen from Chopin or the main title fanfare was taken from Holt? Not really, since they're still excellent pieces and are very effective.

The Imperial March was ripped off of Antonin Dvorak's "New World Symphony", and the main title was blatantly stolen from Erich Korngold's 1941 theme to the film "King's Row", but yeah, you get the idea. I don't think there's anything artistic about stealing someone else's melody (or, in Williams' case, their entire song) and claiming it as your own.
