The Disappearing Boy
Probably something from Insomniac or Dookie. Stuart & The Ave, Stuck With Me, Sassafras Roots and In The End come to mind. No One Knows is a good shout too.Ha how could I even forget Stuart and No One Knows. Definitely need to listen to those again.
tdlyon
I love She but I think When I Come Around is incredibly overrated. It's just kind of boring and I usually change it if it comes up on shuffle, and I find it's kinda boring live too. Same with Longview to a lesser extent but that's probably just because I've heard it so many times.

I usually skip it unless I'm listening to the full album.
AlissaGoesRAWR
Eh She is kinda boring on Dookie now live is a different story I will never understand why I burst into tears when they played She in Pittsburgh. I don't even particularly like the studio version of the song, but live it was just... unreal.
Joe.
They're very close, but Basket Case takes it for me. And as to general contenders, Homecoming and All The Time deserve a mention. All the time? As a best song? For me the grouch is better on Nimrod alone! Homecoming is a much better suggestion though, I forgot about it When I Come Around and She beg to differ. Two good songs, but are they on the same level as American idiot, JOS or Longview? Not for me

Hermione
Don't really get the love for When I Come Around either on the album or live, good song but pales compared to most of the other songs on Dookie and live it's one of the less exciting songs since it's neither upbeat enough to be particularly fun or energetic nor slow enough for a swaying singalong moment. Even Mike doesn't understand it (from 2:00) :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKTP7-4Mlk4I do like it when Billie changes the lyrics though ("How now brown cow", "I'm a loser, a drug user", "I'm having sex with Mike", "Mike Dirnt's a dirty whore" etc). Best thing about it.

Homecoming is a much better suggestion though, I forgot about it Two good songs, but are they on the same level as American idiot, JOS or Longview? Not for me I was actually pointing out that I didn't think basket case or Wica are the best songs on Dookie. Basket case is good but since it is so overplayed it takes a lot away from it for me. Longview is good, but as was already said it is the most iconic bassline, but I can listen to the bassline of Wica on rotation. JoS is a masterpiece no discussion necessary. AI is brilliant in the fact that it perfectly sets up a brilliant album. It is upbeat and fun but as a son by itself, I think they have others that are better, even on ai. Whatsername is brilliant, you can easily visualize the despair. as an example
unextraordinarygirl
Hmmm guess I'm in the minority here. I happen to like Longview, Basketcase,WICA and She both on the album but especially live. There is so much energy put out by those songs between band and crowd.

Best thing about it.I never used to understand it either. I think part of it is how different it is from the rest of Dookie. Most of Dookie sounds like its album cover, if that makes sense--bright, dry, kinda washed-out, like a really hot summer day. And the music videos for the other singles tend to reflect that, they've been chemically altered to wash the frame out and there's a very harsh brightness to them. Whereas WICA sounds like the accompaniment to wandering down a city street at night, which, again, its video reflects. It's such a different mood from the rest of the album, which really makes it stand out as memorable. There's also the fact that it's easily the most recognizable guitar riff on Dookie. Basket Case has the most recognizable melody overall and Longview has the most iconic bassline, but in terms of guitar WICA is the standout.

Mykee Mexx
I love Misery. Great ballad. Funny tune. Weird lyrics. Whenever I listen to it I can picture a man from long ago in an old suit and hat at a market place or fair with a stick pointing at drawings and turn over the pages, singing the ballad.

It's a good song sure, but hitchin a ride, nice guys finish last and the grouch are better. Let's not forget good riddance as well

Libertine Angel
Nice Guys Finish Last is the worst song on Nimrod. Nope, Take Back is so far below the rest of the album it's in a bottomless pit with such a high air pressure it's crushed and never to be thought of again. Nice Guys Finish Last is definitely one of the best on Nimrod for me.
Guest
Nice Guys Finish Last is just so... average. It's bog standard Green Day, with nothing to make it special. Take Back might be shite, but at least it's outside their comfort zone.

He'll probably burst into tears. He's desperately hoping they'll play it Thursday, but his taste in music is... strange and unpredictable. The Disappearing Boy
Last Ride In is pretty bad. Worst on that record I'd say. The rest of the album is pretty damn good.

I suppose it just doesn't stand out in a way that's particularly appealing to me.Last Ride In is pretty bad. Worst on that record I'd say. The rest of the album is pretty damn good. No! It's a delightful tongue in cheek interval where you can take a break and relax in the middle of all the energetic songs . And with its pronounced laid back surfy sound it cements the very subtle retro/surfy sound that runs through the album. Probably not one I'd listen to on its own very often but it adds a lot to the album imo.
SarahisaBasketCase
Whenever it comes up on shuffle I always skip it, but I just listened to worry rock and its so good. I should listen to it more. As well as haushinka.

Take Back might be shite, but at least it's outside their comfort zone. It's standard Green Day, sure, but that's still pretty bloody awesome. I can't stand growling, so I'd take virtually anything over Take Back (it'd be hard to choose between that and Nightlife). Last Ride In is pretty bad. Worst on that record I'd say. The rest of the album is pretty damn good. Nah, Last Ride In's pretty cool.
Beerjeezus
I've always considered Platypus (I Hate You) an intentionally over the top, exagerrated hate song - a hyperbole. But I changed my opinion today. Writing such lyrics just don't seem right anymore, the song doesn't sound much like a joke, not so spiteful, but rather bitter. This might be only my impression, though - haven't listened to it for ages.

I'm sure billie once said on Twitter who it was aimed at, though I cant rememher who it was now.
