Waiting is great, but it can't compare to the sheer catchiness and exuberance of Castaway.
AlissaGoesRAWR
You're overrated. Waiting is great, but it can't compare to the sheer catchiness and exuberance of Castaway. I think I enjoy Waiting because of its lyrics more than anything, so I guess I'm being a tad bit unfair. I still don't get the Castaway love, though. PleasedToMeetMe
I think both songs are great. Waiting is one of the best songs the band has ever done and Castaway is super catchy and has a killer breakdown. Also, not sure how unpopular of an opinion this is but Dos would totally be my favorite album of the trilogy if Nightlife wasn't on it. Actually, it would probably be in my top 5 favorite GD albums but I absolutely cannot stand Nightlife.

Chin for a Day
Warlning is one of my favorite albums, and I like all the songs. But, I'm not getting the Castaway is the best song on the album. I think Church on Sunday is catchier, with better lyrics. IF I had to pick a best song, that would be it. I love Minority too, it is so good live, but it is catchy and again great lyrics. Guest
Are you ill? Castaway is sort of boring, I'm with Alissa. I get song fatigue from listening to it, I get through the first chorus and then I just want to skip it.

Unless it's a live version I struggle to get to the bit where the drums come in.
Hermione
I'd put Blood Sex And Booze way above any other song on Warning. It'd most likely be my least favourite Green Day album (currently being third least above Kerplunk and 39/Smooth) if that song wasn't on there giving so much extra fabulousness. Normally I'm all about that bass (fuck I hate myself) but there's just something so boring about the song!!! It just feels very generic to me and the lyrics feel like they're trying too hard. I feel the same way about Basket Case, no worries
Libertine Angel
Waiting is an all-round great song, but Castaway is one of the most fun songs in existence.
Guest
Castaway is alright. It's about middle in Green Day's body of work for me. I haven't been interested in listening to it since I was about 18. Deadbeat Holiday is clearly the best song on Warning, by some distance.
Libertine Angel
Deadbeat Holiday is near the top for me, though not quite reaching Castaway.
Hermione
Castaway is super fun and catchy, plus it says "going at it alone" which is funny . But it doesn't stand out as anything that great to me. Waiting's cool but again I've never really seen what makes people rate it as highly as they often do in comparison to other songs.

And pretty much most of Warning, actually.

Popular Post Z J
Castaway just excels at all of the things that make a pop-punk song good. First, there's the obvious melody. The vocal melody flows up and down each line and word brilliantly, showcasing why Green Day's melodies are so good. The words just fall at the right places in the melody. Then there's the bassline, which is one of Mike's best. The drumming is fast-paced and upbeat, just like the song. And the lyrics are quite good. The strength in the words though is just how well they sync with the melody. An example: "I'm on a sentimental journey Into sight and sound Of no return and no looking back or downA consciences objector to the War that's in my mind" "I'm riding on the night train and Driving stolen cars Testing my nerves out of the blvd.Spontaneous combustion on the Corners of my mind" Both lines follow more or less the same vocal melody, but the way the two underlined parts fall is just incredible writing. And that verse melody flows in to the chorus seamlessly, the mark of a great Green Day song. Castaway is #2 in my favorite GD songs list, but I of course will allow that is not their best, because it really isn't anything beyond what we've come to expect, so I can understand not loving it like I do.
Libertine Angel
ithink I love every song on Warning, off the top of me head I cant think of anything on Warning I dont like. I love them all too, I love almost all their stuff, but a scale of 1-10 still leaves some room in between 9 and 10, and that's where they get ordered. Z J
I've never liked the songs 86, or Tight Wad Hill. I like 86 for the message, the song has never been that amazing. Though the anger really comes through his snarling delivery, especially live.
Ritz
I have always loved Castaway. Its catchy and the bass is so out there. Waiting, on the other hand, is fabulous as well. Oh well, I feel this way about the whole album, except Blood Sex and booze.
