Gwen Stacy
Failing to trim the fat has always been a problem they've had. Part of what makes AI so powerful is that it's just the best of the best with no filler whatsoever. As far as Green Day albums go it's unique in that respect. I'll disagree with that; Kerplunk, Dookie, and Warning are all albums that don't overstay their welcome. Totally true, but between this album, The White Album, Tusk and Exile on Main St. I guess I'm just a sprawling album kinda guy. And I get that, 21st Century Breakdown is my favorite Green Day album for the same reason, but I feel like the difference on 21st vs Nimrod is that on Nimrod what I consider "the fat" just bores me whereas the stuff on 21st is at least an interesting departure, if not wholly succesful. Anaïs.
I'll disagree with that; Kerplunk, Dookie, and Warning are all albums that don't overstay their welcome. Dookie could've cut two or three songs easily, and Warning could've stood to have lost the title track and/or Fashion Victim. They're tight, but there's some subpar stuff. Z J
I think I've finally come to terms with the fact that AI has fallen to #2 in my GD album ranking. Vive la Nimrod.! where's the real Graham what have you done with him also for my opinion on that American Eulogy verse > (see sig) absolute fucking master-class. One of the best verses I've ever heard if lyrics/delivery are the two main factors

They're tight, but there's some subpar stuff. I dunno, I don't think Dookie could have been much shorter and still been a solid album. I mean maybe, maybe I could see cutting Pulling Teeth, but everything else needs to stand to make the album work. And Warning either needs new material or you can't take anything else away, it's already too short. Both the tracks you cite I feel have merit and are needed in the album, even if you don't particularly like them.
Anaïs.
where's the real Graham what have you done with him It's Mitchell now. Anaïs Mitchell. And she will have her revenge. Besides, you've always known I love Nimrod. Objectively AI is better but Nimrod. is without question my most-spun GD record.

I think one of the mini-songs (Coming Clean, Emenius Sleepus, In the End) could have gone as well. As for Warning, I agree that cutting both would be too much, but I really don't think it would lose much by axing Fashion Victim.

Pulling Teeth can stay but the second half that's not She When I Come Around Coming Clean or F.O.D. could easily been erased off the album
Anaïs. Honestly, I don't even hate it at this point just because I'll so often forget it exists. I'll make a smarmy comment about it now and then but my heart isn't in it unless it's an active debate.
Gwen Stacy
Better than liking the trilogy, I suppos I really don't think it's as bad as everyone here makes it out to be. Is it great? God no. But with the exception of Sex, Drugs, and Violence there's nothing truly bad on there, just boring. Does the material warrant a triple album? No. Should Cavallo have done more and forced some cuts? Yes. But I really don't think it's that bad. How's that for an unpopular opinion?

It's always been between AI and Dookie for me, though Nimrod gets in there occasionally. Take Back drags it down though.

Poor lyrics is the main thing. But the songs are also soft. There is nothing good about the vocals or production. Anyway, I've said it all before so I'll stop there. AlissaGoesRAWR
Failing to trim the fat has always been a problem they've had. Part of what makes AI so powerful is that it's just the best of the best with no filler whatsoever. As far as Green Day albums go it's unique in that respect. I don't know why, but this has seriously blown my mind! I don't know why I never realized this before. Although it's quite comical to think that their album with two 9-minute songs is their most concise... However, Warning immediately came to mind as an album that doesn't drag on for me, weirdly enough. It's by no means my favorite. I don't even know if I like it all that much. But when I'm in a mood to listen to it, everything flows nicely (with the exception of Misery, but we won't get into that right now). Dookie isn't bad, but the end of the album starts to blur and Coming Clean, Emenius Sleepus and In The End could be cut without me caring all that much. Even Insomniac, although it's tight as hell, could do without Tight Wadd Hill, oddly enough. So yeah, I guess, aside from AI, every album has at least one I'd cut from it. AI really is the untouchable masterpiece.
UNICORN VOMIT
The trilogy is the only albums I skip songs otherwise I listen from start to finish on each album & I never shuffle. Just realised sorry more of a random thought than unpopular opinion.

I like it too, I just don't think I would put it in my top 3 GD songs. And I agree, it should have been a single, but I am one of the odd people that loves Warning.
