UNICORN VOMIT
I agree. Also is one of their worst choices for a single. You have ¡Viva la Gloria!, American Eulogy, Peacemaker, ¿Viva la Gloria? (Little Girl), Last Night On Earth, Restless Heart Syndrome, Before The Lobotomy, Murder City, The Static Age and you release Last of the American Girls...OK... I agree bad choice - I hated it as a single but I love 21CB - to me it is every bit as good as AI - come at me now.

UNICORN VOMIT
Good Riddance sounds terrible on the radio - billie's voice is flat - I am not sure if it is because billie's voice is better now - but live the song is better than the original recording. You're now my all time favorite poster Send me a Valentine - you still have time

It doesn't help that radio compresses recordings to buggery when Good Riddance is one of those songs that needs to breathe and have dynamic range to actually sound good.

See its because you know what you are talking about - I just know what I can hear & whether I like it or not... Thanks for that explanation.

Mayonaise
I've literally never heard anyone say that. It's one of their most fun songs, but it's hardly close to a JoS-level masterpiece. "Its like the modern Jess of Suburbia!" -Some idiot on TheTopTens.com Yes, JESS of Suburbia. I wouldn't be surprised if someone like ARTV compared the two songs either. I see people do this all the time. Time for another unpopular opinion (maybe): Dirty Rotten Bastards is highly overrated. By far one of the worst in the trilogy (I went there). But sure, I could easily see this as some song people would dance to while drinking beer or something.

They have nothing in fucking common.
DookieLukie
I still get physically angry whenever I remember that. They have nothing in fucking common. I get the impression that the guy forgot to write the review, remembered the last critically acclaimed Green Day song and said, "Eh, they're both over 5 minutes" and then made the comparison. DookieLukie
Wouldnt that have been 21CB. AI was much more popular than 21CB. Most people would know JOS over anything on 21CB.

Spike
21 Guns charted higher than JoS... But then again American Idiot and the JOS single have combined sales of over 15.2 million whereas the combined sales of Breakdown and the 21 Guns single are just over 6 million.

You have to take radio airplay into account too, though, as well as the YouTube video. I'm not rendering an opinion as to which was "more popular" as I don't have the relevant statistics, but in my personal experience 21 Guns was more widely out there. Anaïs.
Want to try again Alex? He's adding together the total sales for American Idiot and 21CB *plus* the respective singles, as anyone who bought the full albums also heard the songs.

I'm not denying 21 Guns sold more singles, that'd be ridiculous. But as Graham said, American Idiot sold far more albums so more people will have probably heard JOS. There's a difference of 9 million in sales, that's quite a lot.

Nevermind sold 31 million records how many casual listeners remembers Territorial Pissings or Lounge Act? All I'm sayin is im willing to bet that more people more non GD fans could name 21 guns over JoS
Mayonaise
What do so many people see in "Walking Alone"? I've seen quite a few reviews mark it as an "honorable mention" or one of the best tracks on the album. Seriously, I feel like there's something I'm missing here. Hermione
Nevermind, we all make mistakes. My biggest complaint about the singles is the video for East Jesus Nowhere. It could be funny in an epic way, but it ended up with a video with live footage. I remember when 21st CB came out I had created in my mind the concept of the video for East Jesus Nowhere, even their clothes. Very much with you there! It was a waste of a potentially great single. I blame the AI musical
