Hermione
Missing You, Nightlife, The Forgotten and Makeout Party are all great OK His rhyming "crazy" and "lazy" in Who Wrote Holden Caulfield? has always annoyed me a disproportionate amount and I don't know why. I think they're just two words that shouldn't be rhymed . Quite impressed he managed to put the word crazy in a song called Lazy Bones without doing it though. Chin for a Day
I think we can conclude that Billie needs to take a poetry class.

Libertine Angel
The lyrics are embarrassing. I think he sounds pretty on The Forgotten, even if the song is somewhat nonsensical. I do however think it was supposed to be a goodbye, beyond that I've got nothing. I like Nightlife. There, I said it. The lyrics are embarrassing, sure, but the overall sound is pretty good. Probably would've worked better if they kept it as a Foxboro Hot Tubs song. Wait they rhyme though I don't get the issue (disclaimer: I fucking love WWHC?) It's just...I don't know, cheap? I like the song too, but that just irritates me.
Pat1308
Just listened to "Missing You" and realized that Billie actually sings the words "Lost my nerve, it's unnerving," and decided that that line was acceptable? What the fuck, Billie. What the actual fuck. I still think "I searched the moon, I lost my head, I even looked under the bed" sounds more atrocious. (BTW, what was Billie searching for under the bed again?) Song of the Century, 21st Century Breakdown, East Jesus Nowhere, Peacemaker, Restless Heart Syndrome, Viva la Gloria, Viva la Gloria?, American Eulogy, The Static Age, Working Class Hero, The Saints Are Coming, etc. beg to differ. Clue: Billie didn't write those. According to Metro Lyrics it s SAILOOOOO whatever the fuck that means. It's Vampirese for 'Arise my vampire brothers, 'tis time to annihilate the human race.' (P.S. In Demolicious it sounds more like SAILOO-brglleargch.)
Chin for a Day
I still think "I searched the moon, I lost my head, I even looked under the bed" sounds more atrocious. Even though I like the song, I still think the worst line on the Trilogy is possibly: "I woke up in a pool of sweat, first I thought I pissed the bed" Way too much information
Haushinka!
It still blows my mind how Billie went from writing incredible, powerful lyrics for the American Idiot album (and previous albums) to writing lyrics for the trilogy that are less than stellar compared to anything he wrote before. Of course, not every track will have amazing lyrics, but some of them are so disappointing and even off-putting. There is such a stark difference in quality, it's hard not to notice. I expected more from him is all. Speaking of Missing You, Im kinda surprised to read that many people don't like it. That was one of the few tracks I actually enjoyed when I first listened to the trilogy. I like the melody and to me, it has hints of Green Day's "signature" sound in it, but even so, the lyrics arent very good unfortunately.

Billie was trying to write bad lyrics on purpose, and as far as we can tell, he succeeded splendidly. I actually like Missing You musically BTW, but that is no excuse for the relatively poor-ish lyrics.
Certified Nimrod
Even though I like the song, I still think the worst line on the Trilogy is possibly: "I woke up in a pool of sweat, first I thought I pissed the bed" Way too much information That's not a bad line, it makes sense. Sure, it's kind of gross, but it is at least logical. Look to The Forgotten if you want some bad lyrics.
Libertine Angel
I must say that "I even looked under the bed" is one of the worst lines Billie's ever written.

Libertine Angel
Missing You used to be in my Trilogy top five, but every time I listen to Tre it sinks. As does the rest of Tre, lbr. Brutal Love, 99 Revolutions and Dirty Rotten Bastards are in the top of the Trilogy for me. X-Kid is somewhat lower, though I think it's steadily increasing. I had to check the tracklisting then because I couldn't remember the rest of it, so I think that says it all about them.
Popular Post Sauli
What the fuck, why did I not notice this? Still their best song since Jesus Of Suburbia, though. Every time I try to make some sense out of your music taste you say something like that I must say that "I even looked under the bed" is one of the worst lines Billie's ever written. It further encourages me to propose the theory that the song is about drugs and has nothing to do with love. He's having cold turkey and growing desperate, runs around his house looking for cocaine.

Libertine Angel
He does sound quite good on The Forgotten, so I can at least tolerate it.
Z J
That is true, The Forgotten is a pretty good vocal. But it stops at "pretty good" when it could have been Last Night On Earth level. I'm not saying we need as many great vocal moments, but some more interesting runs maybe and it's an infinitely better song.
Hermione
40 year olds should never even think that they pissed the bed. I still vote for it as worst line he's ever written. The number of past and present stories he has about pissing is way more than the average person has though. For one example during the 21st CB tour he told one about his wife informing him that he'd got up in the night half asleep and pissed in the closet and (might've been some artistic license with this part) "flushed" a hanger . There's countless others too, eg once on tour after a night of heavy drinking he dreamt that he'd pissed in his suitcase, then woke up in the morning and found urine in his suitcase. So I think in his case his real life experiences legitimize the line
Popular Post Spike
To be honest I hate the album version of The Forgotten even more having heard how awesome Alyssa's version is Also I refuse to accept Billie has ever written a line worse than "I like your BMX-cellent tits." It's not even clever, it's trying too hard to be punny (and you know it's fucking bad if I of all people think that) and is just crass and shit.
Hermione
It's meant to be crass though, it's deliberately crass and silly.

Hermione
How sad. This takes a very small amount of his cuteness away. Very, very small Ehh, he's spent a fair amount of time getting drunk and being silly over the years, doesn't seem an out of character detail to me. Deliberately crass and silly is still crass and silly though. I wouldn't mind if it was fun but it's just cringeworthy. True, I find it fun but that is a matter of opinion. Wait they rhyme though I don't get the issue (disclaimer: I fucking love WWHC?) It's just kind of cheesy, not sure why but sometimes when a rhyme is too obvious/simple it just sounds bad, as if they used one word and then thought "hmm what word can I shoehorn into the song to rhyme with that?" rather than it being chosen for more artistic reasons. Understandable when he was a younger and not as experienced as a songwriter and I love the song too, just has a cheesy rhyme that makes me laugh in it

The drunk part doesn't bother me, the pissing yourself in your 40's does. That is kind of something you should out grow by the time you are 3. Spike
True, I find it fun but that is a matter of opinion. I might like it more if I didn't know he could do far better in terms of light-heartedness, like Blood, Sex & Booze for example. Also is it just me or is Misery an incredibly fun song, both lyrically and otherwise, despite its dark content? The drunk part doesn't bother me, the pissing yourself in your 40's does. That is kind of something you should out grow by the time you are 3. But most people grow back into it eventually
