Blasphemy & Genocide: Unpopular Green Day Opinions, Part 2

Warning is the best album they ever did. Especially lyrically.

I think you meant to put Nimrod. Yes because church on sunday is a lyrical masterpiece.

All this bitching about the trilogy is pissing me off. It was THAT bad, well in my opinion it wasn't. Miles better than Insomniac and Warning.

Maybe I went overboard with miles better, but none the less better. Insomniac was such a dull dreary album and warning was just meh.

I genuinely don't see how Insomniac can be put in the same sentence with "dull" or "dreary". There's not a single track on that I don't love. Warning is fantastic too, but enough people don't like it for me to not be completely astounded by it.

I'm not saying I dislike the songs, but come on, Brain Stew (especially the recorded version) is just monotone and dreary.

I disagree with the last sentence, too many people who don't know Green Day that well dislike Warning, 95% of people on here seem to love it.

That's the point - it's a song about the narrator's mind falling apart into dull delerium, just like Longview.

The concept of Insomniac and Warning being dull and dreary just really hurts my brain. Warning is one o my favorites. It still maintains the energy level of their previous records but shows a growth towards more mature concepts.

I don't disagree that it fits with the song, I just dislike the song. Longview is different as there is more of a change in the song from the verses to the chorus.

Brain Stew live is still awesome, I just think it's Billie's voice in the recorded version I dislike.

They use the same concept in one of my favorites, Whatsername. The song is sung in a monotone to show the frustration and despair the character feels.

The concept of someone saying that, plus saying the trilogy is better than those two albums is enough to give me a heart attack. To each their own, I suppose.

Every time I see someone seriously saying the Trilogy is better than any given album Green Day has put out I feel like my head is going to explode.

Explain why you dislike the trilogy, does anyone on here have any other reason then for the 'terrible song writing'?

I really fail to see why terrible songwriting shouldn't be the only qualification needed.

Of course good songwriting is needed, but in my opinion the songwriting wasn't as bad as some of the mainstream artists of today. Maybe it was a step back for Green Day, but was a step up from mainstream artists lyrics of 'money drugs and hoes'

I disagree that Billie didn't care about the promotion of the trilogy. It was his fault that he got in to the mess he was in but I don't think that he didn't care, he realised that he was in a bad place and got himself out of it. Surely having a poorly promoted trilogy was worth a healthy Billie

Out of that entire post about all the things I find wrong with the Trilogy, you only disagree with the last, tacked on bit about Bilie? Interesting, interesting.

Saying "At least it wasn't as bad as this other stuff!" is the epitome of damning with faint praise. And if you take a look at Dos it is indeed all about "money drugs and hoes".

That wasn't the only part I disagreed with, but it was the one that I felt you wouldn't try and argue back with and 1,000,000 other people would join in and I would lose purely because I was in the minority :P.

So you accuse us of not having enough points and when we give them you refuse to refute them?

Interesting, interesting.

I don't think I ever said Billie didn't care, I said that he seemed not to care. Which is honestly just as bad. He was too busy being drunk/drugged up/a fucking weirdo to effectively promote the albums. His behavior was really the icing on the cake for the whole disaster.

He's still a sweet, fluffy little rock star cupcake but damn, he was a train wreck during the Trilogy promotions, there's no denying it.

I never said that it was perfect, I'm just stating that I don't get why people give it this much hate. Ok you got me on that one but it's only one third of the trilogy, the other two thirds are slightly more meaningful

P.S. Please don't take anything I have to say about the Trilogy personally. I'm in a particularly caustic mood at the moment and I'm trying to keep myself from ripping someone else's head off by ripping your's off over the Trilogy  sorry!!
