Blasphemy & Genocide: Unpopular Green Day Opinions, Part 2

I really don't have a problem with Troublemaker's awful lyrics - Billie was trying to be vulgar and crass, so the song does exactly what it was trying to do (it's for that reason that I don't mind Fuck Time or Makeout Party). Granted, he's capable of more sophisticated music, but we shouldn't judge songs on criteria they never intended to fulfil.

If you take it that way, but in order to be a good line it should be less equivocal, in my opinion. Obviously I hate the song so my opinion may be disqualified because of that. How does it fit the general theme of the song though? Obviously it can be argued that as far as metaphors go, it's still lightyears better than the following ones.

Well in the song he's this brash character who's unashamedly himself, I think making such a statement fits with that.

And the other ones are fun :P

That comment about Missing You got me thinking about how I'd rate the Trilogy. So yeah.

I don't agree with all of this, but it was a good read anyway.

Also, "heart on a noose"? As soon as I first heard that lyric I knew something was wrong, despite my liking the song overall

What's wrong with that line?

It makes no bloody sense. What is wearing one's heart on a noose supposed to be a metaphor for, and at any rate how does anyone wear anything on a noose?

His heart is hurting.

I thought it was a way of saying there're no strings attached. Makes more sense if you look at it before the bridge.

Far away, far away, waste away tonight

I'm wearing my heart on a noose

Far away, far away, waste away tonight

Tonight my heart's on the loose

Talk myself out of feeling

Talk my way out of control

Talk myself out of falling in love

Falling in love with you

I could be wrong, but that's what I get from it.

Troublemaker and Loss of Control are just unforgivably awful. Missing You is one of the best songs they've ever done. So there.

Troublemaker and Loss of Control are mindless fun (as is the vast majority of the Trilogy), Missing You is really nothing special but a good Trilogy song.

god you have way too much time on your hands

I bet he did this so that you would read it and see that he ranked "Missing You" the highest! He is missing you! Ceadog's such a cutie pie with his hidden messaages.

It is a 7/10, but considering the vast majority of the Trilogy averages about 3/10, it really stands out.

I know right, best song on the trilogy, IMO.

Listen to the trilogy already.

Wait no, don't :P

i listened to it maybe once all the way through. deleted all of it besides stay the night, fell for you, and x-kid once i realized that every time one of the songs came on shuffle i would skip it as fast as possible.

I still don't get everyone's issue with the trilogy. It was rushed and could have been much better, I'll give it that . . but in all honesty other than Troublemaker and Nightlife I like every song. Songs like Nuclear Family and Stay the Night remind me of the Green Day I fell in love with in the 90s.

I actually quite like Nightlife. I used to hate it, but it's definitely grown on me. Unpopular - yay or nay?

i fall asleep at the beginning of tre and i don't wake up throughout the whole thing

Brutal Love and Missing You are the only ones listening to be honest. Good job they're the first two I guess! X-Kid is alright I suppose.

DRB is good in parts. Needs major re-working. 99 Revs is good apart from the chorus.

DRB could make maybe three good songs. But as it is? Clusterfuck.
