Z J
I think I've seen almost every song off the Trilogy being listed here as someone's favourite or being at least liked by someone else. What if they released 18 songs instead of 37? Don't you think that we would have missed something? Judging by GDC members' taste, yes. 37 is better than 18, man The people would have found another song to shower with undeserved love
Backyard Skulls
I saw a post on tumblr saying international superhits was "underrated". I'm sorry but how is an album of singles underrated? like they're the best of the bunch of each album, so technically not that underrated or they wouldn't have been chosen as singles I've been on a kerplunk fix lately, no idea why. My favourite song from that album is def one for the razorbacks or android.
Todd
Trying to figure out why my list is made of 253 songs. And I don't even consider re-recordings and Depression Times. It may take a while Edit: Nevermind, you didn't count the unofficially released tracks in the final 228. Btw, if you include Depression Times, what about The Angel And The Jerk? Angel and the Jerk is just Billie Joe. The guys have done so many things solo, Mike has played with Screeching Weasels, Billie has played with Common Rider, Ryan Adams, there's just so many solo sideprojects, and I don't even know/have all of them. So I only included those three because they are full band. I should've added the Iggy Pop collabs, I'll do that right now. I make it 161 officially released songs (originals + covers) on studio albums: 19 + 16 + 14 + 14 + 18 + 12 + 13 + 18 + 37 = 161 Though I guess the three songs on ISH and 14 on Shenanigans would make it 178, but they're technically compilation albums! They're still officially released songs though, b-sides. They're not of any lesser quality, they're not demos, like, I wouldn't include demolicious, I don't know why you wouldn't include them. Plus, shenanigans isn't all of the b-sides. If you include shenanigans, you have to include all the other b-sides that were released on singles and deluxe editions, because they all have the same availability. They'd have a much better pick of singles from there

They'd have a much better pick of singles from there Sure, everyone can pick their own favourite songs and make a playlist. That's the point. But if that had been the tracklist, I'd never have listened to Brutal Love, Lazy Bones, Fuck Time and many others; it would have been kinda disappointing. I'm so much happier with what we actually have

Guest
^ well any live recording is going to have a different energy/vibe than a studio recording.

Yeah, Shenanigans didn't even include all of early b-sides, they left out Good Riddance, The Ballad of Wilhelm Fink, and Don't Want to Know if You Are Lonely. So if you're gonna include some b-sides, you might as well include them all That's not really a "best of", it's more of a playlist of "if they only released one album". Brutal Love wouldn't fit on that, and they'd save it for another album. If that makes any sense

On my best of Trilogy playlist, I finish off with Lazy Bones and Brutal Love, and it seems to work pretty well.
Certified Nimrod
I prefer Adam's cover of it. Partly because there are no lyrics. idk, Oh Love didn't seem any different live to me. Billie's guitar tone at concerts isn't right for the song. It sounded great on GMA, though. Heck, I was looking for a recording of that show when I discovered GDC.
Todd
I Want to Be Alone is a fucking amazing song. I'm listening to it right now, it feels like I've never heard it before. Everyone should give it a listen if you read this post. Read the lyrics while you listen to it.

If only the part after "with you around" in the second line was comprehensible Great lyrics though, especially "Please don't think I'm crazy, I don't want you to understand" and the little contradiction that happens to be within it. I just wish he didn't sound high/kinda drunk during it.
Sauli
I thought most people liked that song. The hook is pretty similar to Uptight by Stevie Wonder. Not that much really but the wee similarity between those two songs only becomes far more obvious since both also include the same word Also, I like it, but its nothing special. Definitely a decent song though, but not one of the best ones on Nimrod.

Beerjeezus
It's pretty much what boy bands' fangirls do. Something like Seagull with American Idiot? There's nothing wrong with saying that losing weight is something positive. Especially if it's your opinion - it has nothing to do with being a fangirl.
