WhiteTim
Funny how Billie just takes Solo credit for nearly all of them. That's not cool. Umm no he doesn't If you read the booklet you'll see all words by Billie Joe all music by Green Day unless other stated like nobody likes you in AI is credited to Mike and RNRG is credited to Tre 21st has all words by Billie all music by Green Day etc Before bash someone do some research...
Sauli
Mmm...maybe the other guys are fine with him being the sole leader? He certainly has a personality of frontman. BUT when playing live he should cut off some of rhose stupid arena rock frontman cliches..

Hermione
I think its safe to say Billie Joe has near 100% creative control of the band based on the fact that what 6 songs or so are not written by him in their entire discography. That's almost nothing in the grand scheme of things. No it isn't. It is safe to say that they're lifelong friends as well as just bandmates though, best friends in the case of Mike and Billie, which is pretty rare. I doubt he's some kind of dictator over them! And as mentioned they all get equal credit for writing the music even though Billie could probably be credited for writing all of it on some songs (and therefore get all the royalties) if he wanted, which I think says a lot. If I hear evidence that his personality is like that other than the way their music sounds or his stage persona then I might believe it but otherwise I don't think there's any reason to assume it. Mmm...maybe the other guys are fine with him being the sole leader? He certainly has a personality of frontman. BUT when playing live he should cut off some of rhose stupid arena rock frontman cliches.. Yeah exactly. They all have different roles in the band, pretty sure if they weren't happy with it they wouldn't still be playing together and good friends after so many years. But I disagree there . To me the fact that they don't take themselves too seriously to have fun doing tongue in cheek stuff like that is integral to the band and their shows. Plus it just makes it really fun and entertaining to be in the crowd watching them be silly and getting to join in with the show.

TommyGun
never considered him as an attention seeker as it has always been that ways, billie mostly interacting with the crowd and that's what they and of course we want, otherwise we would probably be disappointed a bit and who else should do that if not the frontman ? Sauli
and who else should do that if not the frontman ? Angus Young
TommyGun
Angus Young ok he's one of the few exceptions but I'd say that acdc is kind of "his" band as he's a founding member and brian johnson is not
Popular Post Spike
Yeah, this is daft. 1. Billie has never claimed sole credit for the vast, vast majority of the band's songs. The three of them all get credit for the music, and Billie takes credit for 99% of the lyrics because he's the one who writes them. It makes absolutely no sense to like Green Day songs but object to their writing process, because if it had been different the songs wouldn't have been the same. Being the principle songwriter of a band generally means you get the most credit. But no one has ever claimed Mike and Tre don't make significant contributions to the music. To suggest otherwise is pure conjecture and most likely completely wrong. 2. Billie is the frontman. That means he takes charge on stage. It's only natural that the lead singer in any band gets the most attention live, and it's even less surprising when you take into account his incredible stage presence. But that doesn't mean he's taking attention away from Mike and Tre. When I saw them on the American Idiot tour he introduced the whole band including the Jasons and Ronnie Blake SEVEN times. Go figure. 3. I don't think he's a douche. Sure he's undeniably pretentious in some ways and has been a real dick under the influence of dodgy substances, but in reality we know absolutely nothing about what he's like as a person. Anyone who thinks otherwise is kidding themselves.Yeah I guess it is entertaining when you are actually experiencing it live...but watching those videos is not But i still dislike those heeoooeees. Good thing they don't perform purely for the entertainment of people watching shitty quality videos on YouTube, then. Meh its still garbage to mix the shit out of the harmonies to make it sound like him. They've never done that. You can't make someone have a different voice. If any harmonies sound like him that's because they are by him. But pre-Trilogy Mike did more backing vocals than anyone. The suggestion that they're doctoring vocals so they all sound like Billie is one of the weirdest things I've ever read on here.

AlissaGoesRAWR
OK, maybe I should have specified. I never said attention-seeker, but douchey jackass. It's different. I guess what I'm saying is I wouldn't be surprised if I met him in real life and my dreams were shattered because he turned out to be an uber-jerk. I don't live in this alternate fangirl reality where I think everything about him is saintly. He's just hot. Mmm...maybe the other guys are fine with him being the sole leader? He certainly has a personality of frontman. But that's it... I don't really think he does. Sometimes he comes off as super awkward and quiet, and then he just puts on the "frontman" yelling voice and persona during shows and interviews and such. So who knows, I guess.

Many actors and comedians etc are actually shy persons. It is normal to put on a mask when performing. And nobody is saint anyway. It is so wrong when celebrities are idealized as saints or whatever. They are people like us

Yeah it is true that the hey ohs and stuff are a lot more enjoyable when you're there caught up in the show and joining in with them to be fair. I think I'd miss it quite a lot if I went to see them and there was none of that stuff, just wouldn't be as fun and interactive. But that's it... I don't really think he does. Sometimes he comes off as super awkward and quiet, and then he just puts on the "frontman" yelling voice and persona during shows and interviews and such. So who knows, I guess. I agree there, by all accounts he's much quieter in person. But I think it comes naturally to him when he performs, I'd say it's another side to him rather than put on. The Disappearing Boy
wait... why do we all hate governator so much It's not exactly Mike's greatest performance vocally. Not that there's much to compare it to!
Purple Haze
I actually like governator. Granted, it could do without the cheesy "Hey!" bits, and the lyrics are pretty awful, but I like the network sound it has.
