Hermione
^ I don't know what you're talking about, because that was cool.Don't worry, this is largely a thread for people who hate things to say they hate things. Lots of other people on here like it, this just isn't usually the thread to find praise for stuff

Hermione
No its the thread to praise things that are good Not whatever that train wreck wasWell it's supposed to be unpopular opinions, and since this is a Green Day fan site most unpopular opinions are negative. So just because there's negative opinions of something in this thread it doesn't mean there aren't just as many or more positive opinions on it to be found in other threads. I don't like that performance but as far as I remember it was widely liked by the general population of GDC when it happened. Pretty much anything Green Day do is going to be liked by a significant number of GDCers even if some dislike it and say so in this thread, if you judge by this thread alone you're going to get a view that's skewed way over to the negative side. Guest
^ I don't know what you're talking about, because that was cool. Synchronised cheerleaders, the quietest crowd in history, and about a bajillion backing singers that didn't seem to do anything apart from Jeff Matika the song to fuck with unnecessary backing vocals? And that's what you call cool? Even Bon Jovi would cringe at that. So just because there's negative opinions of something in this thread it doesn't mean there aren't just as many or more positive opinions on it to be found in other threads. wrong opinions*
Hermione
wrong opinions* Debatable But I'm just warning a new person not to think everyone here hates everything Green Day do because of this thread . You can find lots of love for all their endeavours elsewhere in Green Day Chat.

green day is
Not sure if this is an unpopular opinion or not, but here we go: the Tom Kitt arrangements of the songs from American Idiot are better than the versions that Green Day originally released (the same thing goes for Know Your Enemy, and Last Night on Earth, and [especially] 21 Guns). I agree for most of them. He brought orchestral instruments into a lot of songs that really changed them for the better. Looking at his Wikipedia page, it seems he did some arrangement work on 21CBD, Uno and Tre as well as the musical.

I know you're joking but real talk I'd hazard a guess he did the strings on The Forgotten but I can't really think what he might've done for Uno. He didn't do anything on Uno (at least he's not credited anywhere in the booklet of Uno) He's credited for Brutal Love and The Forgotten on Tre

He maybe got Green Day to change the song structures a little bit. Not 100% sure though.
Popular Post AmyxLongview
Insomniac is severely neglected by the band in terms of live shows. Some of the songs have never even been played once! I'd love it if they'd occasionally add some of those lesser known songs into the setlist, and rehearse them beforehand so they don't mess up
Sauli
many people seems to think 21 Guns is not very good, at least not lyrically. I think it's one of the nest tracks lyrically on 21st Century Breakdown which biggest fault sometimes are the lyrics. Also I think, that if we don't count the trilogy or 1039 Slappy Hours of Smoking Weed, Insomniac is Green Days worst studio album. A big let down after Dookis and Kerplunk. Sauli
HAHA WHAT "Let's see, if we ignore almost half of Green Day's discography, Insomniac is their worst studio album." basically yes, that was my point
Guest
basically yes, that was my point I'm going to assume you mean Insomniac was the "worst" popularity-wise? Because I see no justification for saying it was the worst in terms of production/music/lyrics.
The Disappearing Boy
I still don't get this hate for 1039 and Kerplunk. They aren't exactly masterpieces, but there is definitely signs on there of what Green Day can do. Anyway, their worst album is Uno/Dos*** *** Delete as appropriate. Or perhaps more appropriately, don't delete at all and leave both there.

Its not a bad album, pretty good actually but Kerplunk, Dookie, Nimrod, Warning, AI and 21st Breakdown are just better... Sauli
Why do you think Kerplunk and Warning are better than Insomniac? Could you elaborate? I like Warning and its poppy sound a lot, and it has no bad songs, its very consistent and I like how it does not sound so monotonous. Kerplunk on the other hand has better lyrics and songs like 2000 light Years Away, One for the Razorbacks, Christie Road and Words I Might Have Ate just are awesome. Insomniac sounds monotonous and boring sometimes and is not very consistent or as memorable. See, I prefer more "poppy" Green Day and Insomniac is rawer, both lyrically and musically. But its still a great album though. And since I have dyslexia its name is a real pain in the ass. Edited May 28, 2014 by Nowhereman

I definitely tend to like darker, "heavier" Green Day, and hence I rank Insomniac higher than you would

I think Insomniac can be pretty poppy at times; Armatage shanks, No pride, Stuart and ave, Westbound sign, Brat and I would even say 86 has a poppy side to it. In terms of consistency Its one of their most consistent, doesnt have any Dominated love slave type songs which is just plain weird, but I understand Dookie can be appealing to more people.
