Good riddance

Any particular way for me to die in mind?

I don't mind really - the choice is yours entirely! :P

Well... What's the latest way that a man can die? Screaming hallelujah?

*attempts to make Jeff Buckley joke*

Every time I hear the static age I wanna punch Billie in the face for making the chorus repeat a gazillion times at the end. Especially seeing as it's the worst chorus on that album. Oh apart from Christians inferno I guess, but the same problem is on there. Jesus, what were they thinking?

Last of the American Girls? See the Light? RHS?

I really like the chorus of Static Age. The ending is kind of grating because of the cheesy key change and the fact it sounds like they just used pitch shift instead of actually recording it higher.

WHAT? You cannot be serious. Especially with RHS.

I knew as soon as i threw in RHS I'd get a response from you :P Haha I like RHS quite a bit and honestly while I think the Static Age chorus is better, RHS probably didn't deserve to be thrown down there….

but the other two? Easy

As much as I like RHS, some of the lyrics are utter shit.

On the vocals: the more I listen to 21CBD the more I wish Vig hadn't used filters. They're so fucking distracting.

No to all. :P Especially RHS which is way better. But the static age one is irritating, mainly because I just don't feel it's quality justifies being repeated 7 or 8 times in the song. Cut off the last minute of the song and it would be much more bearable.

 No.

I have to disagree there, I think the filters are a massive help. They're a hell of a lot less distracting than on the Trilogy.

I'm sorry, "So what ails you is what impales you" is dumb. :P

I should've specified: I'm fine with AI filters, but the ones on 21CBD sound so artificial. It's not as bad as the Trilogy, but then again nothing is. :P The high notes on RHS and 21 Guns in particular are painful.

What's wrong with lotag's chorus?

Just don't like it as much as the others on the album. The melody feels kinda flat I guess. And every line begins with "she" which bothers me an irrational amount

That's a genius lyric! Honestly one of my favourites. What don't you like about it?

Ah, see, the artificial sounds of the high notes aren't filters, that's just bog standard pitch correction :P I don't mind it at all on RHS but it does start to grate on 21 Guns, I'd much prefer it if he'd done all but the last chorus in full voice, like he does live. The thing is, chances are there's pitch correction on a larger proportion of his vocals but it's far more noticeable on the high notes, so it can stick out like a sore thumb.

21 Guns high notes only sound artificial when you hear Billie try them live :P

Kidding, I actually think they sound very nice. Like I've said hear many times before, the vocals on 21CB are unmatched.

But when he does them live after the bridge they're fantastic. Plus RHS live sounded pretty good as well.

It's crucifixion imagery for the sake of crucifixion imagery and has nothing to do with the rest of the song. And it just sounds dumb. "Gee, the thing that's impaling me ails me? I had no idea! What an astonishing insight, Billie!"

See, every time I bring up pitch correction this thread explodes, which is why I didn't mention it. :P Even when it's not pitch-shifted, though, his voice just sounds like he's inhaled helium. The title track especially falls victim to that.

Well obviously there's pitch correction in the studio I don't think anyone would get on you about that. It's just when you complain about AAF even though there are videos that in my mind prove no post-recording correction was done that people's jimmies get rustled (mine :D)

Billie's mouth must have been full of marbles live, then, because my *god* Christie Road sounds bad. :P

That's what I mean, they sound good live because they're natural and he doesn't overuse the falsetto.

See I don't even get crucifixion imagery from it, and it relates to the first verse perfectly. The whole song is about turning to illicit substances to escape reality as far as I can tell, so that line just sums it up to perfection. Maybe I've missed the point and you've got something wildly different from it though :P

Which bit of the title track are you referring to?

The worst bit is the opening section, particularly every "working class hero". It almost sounds like it's been chipmunked.

Restless Heart Syndrome must never be used in conjunction with a negative adjective again, unless it's a double negative.

You have been warned.

Oh and the falsetto is pretty grating, but a million miles better than the live version.

It just sounds like he's singing a high F# to me.
