Blasphemy & Genocide: Unpopular Green Day Opinions, Part 2

Ahh, okay, in that case I definitely would be open to seeing stuff like that! I still need to get ahold of TIT actually.

Mmm, I think that's a little harsh. I mean, the set list isn't very inspired but it did give us the definitive live performances of She, J.A.R., 21 Guns and Going to Pasalacqua. It *is* a crime that American Eulogy wasn't put on the CD though, or even on the EP in full. The "Nobody Likes You" ending gives me chills every damn time.

I mean, the middle section of it has all sorts of solid life performances. The bonus tracks are also great additions, but I still wish "Paper Lanterns" and "2,000 Light Years Away" were their own tracks.

My main criticisms are that it has some of the same songs from Bullet in a Bible, not bad songs by any means, but it just seems like filler for them to even be there. While I don't like 21CB, I can understand why they'd want to put a majority of the songs on their live album from it. Another criticism of mine is how LONG some of these live performances are. My god, I do not need to be listening to two minutes of them introducing the band and Billie Joe just going "HEY OH!" half the time. That is something that should be put on concert videos, not the albums. If it's a jam, I can understand (RHCP  ), but it just seems to drag on forever sometimes.

Overall, for their next live album (if they make one) all I would want is a more interesting trackless. That's really it. A concert video and maybe a new song would be cool too, but that's their choice if they'd do that or not.

Android is my least favourite on Kerplunk but it's still damn good.

Bless you my child.

No it's not worth that. It's not bad by any means but c'mon it's not awesome. Give me a break lol. It gets old just like many of their overlooked songs like give me novacaine, she's a rebel, extraordinary girl, castaway, even who wrote holden caulfield, hitchin a ride, the grouch, and macy's day parade too to some extent.

Android is worse than Dominated Love Slave? C'mon now. That's just insulting.

But seriously tho i like the idea of it better. The genre is more dynamic tho billie joe couldn't really go strong enough on the vocals. After they played sweet children at the HOB i really got into that EP really for the first time. Never had really given it much thought before the sweet children reunion.

I also really started listening to it after the show as well. Not that I didn't listen to it before, but I felt like I could listen to it and actually appreciate certain songs more now. Even Kerplunk, too. I would love for them to re-record early songs with better vocals and production, just to see what it sounds like, but I just don't feel like they're that type of band.

Oh but it is!

You like the trilogy. Your arguments are always invalid. :P

I fe the funny break in the album works remarkably well. Singing along to the backup vocals are really fun as well. I feel like android is just good for the talking machine and background noises. I feel like green day has a lot better songs that are sort of similar to it.

The lyrics are pretty mature for the age Billie Joe was when he wrote the song. I think that's what makes me appreciate it way more than a one-off silly song like Dominated Love Slave.

Also, this is one of my favorite Green Day lines:

It seems so frightening

Time passes by like lightning

Before you know it you're struck down

how can you not adore a song whose first line is "hey old man in woman's shoes"???

"Android" is one of the best songs on Kerplunk and easily the most energetic.

Yet according to setlist.fm Green Day hasn't even played it live... Once... Come on, that's just insulting.

I just love how he goes "Waste awaaaaaay" followed by Tre's kick ass drumming. Just a great song and probably my most listened to one Kerplunk (Next to "No One Knows", of course).

Kerplunk and 1039 are both pretty terrible aside from a handful of songs. The terrible vocals and guitar sound irks me

That's actually why I love both of them. I always love the overall raw, not overly produced sound to Green Day.

Kerplunk has a top 7 or so that probably bests Dookie's top 6. Kerplunk gets mired by some filler though.

And Android is a great song, the lyrics/rhyme scheme are very good for his age and it's just another sparkling example of the pop-punk sound that would influence so many.

Edit: Also, Billie mentioned at the HOB show during the Sweet Children set that a certain song was the first he ever wrote about race, anyone have an idea which song that was? I thought it was Android this whole time but upon re-reading the lyrics that doesn't make sense to me :P

Road To Acceptance. They only played songs from 1039/SOSH and the Sweet Children EP during the SC set.

I completely disagree, Welcome to Paradise and One Of My Lies are definitely more energetic.

I haven't listened to the Kerplunk version of Welcome To Paradise in about 7 years on account of it being complete shite.

The mere fact that it's Welcome To Paradise keeps it from being shite, and while overall I think I prefer the Dookie version the Kerplunk one does have its merits.

Except for the song Sweet Children, of course. :P

Edit: Oh wait, you said Sweet Children EP. Disregard this post, I can't read.
