Blasphemy & Genocide: Unpopular Green Day Opinions, Part 2

I'm not trying to change the musical taste of anyone and there is no problem on liking the hits of a band (my all time favorite is Basket Case).. but I can't dig 21 Guns.. i've already tried to change the way I feel about it..

as I said before, I think this song is boring as hell... and I thing Green day is bigger that this stadium ballads made only for kids and little girls say that they like rock and roll...

(throw the rocks)

not acting like a douche.. just stating an opinion, you don't have to agree with it

Saying you don't like a song is an opinion

You saying stuff about people is acting an douche

You may not personally like 21 guns, but it is an example of why they are headed to the RRH0F in their first year of eligibility. They have never been afraid to try something new, to change things up. Most bands stick to the same formula niche that they started in. Great bands do things differently. Sometimes they fail, sometimes they succeed. 21 Guns is one of their best selling single ever. So, the general populace thinks they succeeded.

Personally, I like it. I'm always up for a great anthem, the lyrics are beautiful and Billie's vocals are one of his best ever. He does a brilliant job with the pauses and the way he drags some of the words out. It makes the song a statement.

I know you hate the song, but don't be surprised to see it at the RRHoF. They have a very limited time to make a statement and the song can easily become a spectacle. At this stage of the game, I would bet money that Billie still has it on his list.

:)

you made me remember now that in 2010 when GD had toured here... the most beutiful image of the show was during this song, when all the crowd turn the lighters and cellphones on... was really beautiful to see it

so, everybody is a douche

Yeah, stating an opinion obviously means the same as putting everyone else's opinion down and implying that they are all "kids and little girls who only pretend they like 'rock'n'roll' ", whatever you mean by the term rock'n'roll.

I don't like Dos, for example, and I don't particularly dig 1039 SOSH but I don't go around declaring that Todd, who loves their debut album, or Hermione who likes Dos, are somehow not allowed to call themselves fans or only pretend to like "real" music.

See the difference?

If I knew how to pull a Lukie on this post i would do do it

He's going to pull the "if you were a fan after Dookie was released then you're a bandwagon fan" card next watch

thanks for you all making me feel bad on a tuesday morning...

never say that averyboydy that likes 21 Guns are kids or little girls (at least it was not my intention - sometimens is hard to explain myself in a language that is not my original one)..

I just came to an "unpopular opinions" thread to say what I think...

It's cool to say you don't like a song or album etc

But to say someone's not a fan or doesn't know music etc cause they like a certain song isn't cool

Not trying to attack you just not cool to insult people

"Of course objective good and bad art exist. The younger generation is so soft. Everyone is good and everyone is lovely even though they are really losers...."

Did I do it right  ?

No Lukie somehow knows how to like the same post like 5 or 10 times lol

If you don't like a song, turn it into a joke. Then it becomes fun. For example, I turned 21 Guns into "20 Juan Guns" (inside joke) and now the song doesn't suck so much :P

One thing that is really great about their music is it transcends ages. Their fanbase can go from 6 to 60. So what if a little girl likes 21 guns? Maybe that little girl will then listen to AI or Dookie, etc. A particular song is just an entry to being a fan. It's all good

21 Guns is one of those 'middling' songs for me. Sometimes I think it's crap, sometimes I think it's great.

Do actually not think so?!

this is the greatest performance of 21 Guns ever done.

There is nothing cringier than Green Day performing with the musical cast. See for evidence.

That is purely because of the crap quality of the song

Also, it's being played at the Super Bowl half time show. That makes it just as cringey.

No, it's purely because the existence of the musical is an embarrassment that can never be lived down by a Green Day fan and we just have to accept that.
