Blasphemy & Genocide: Unpopular Green Day Opinions, Part 2

I don't call them "tubbies", that reminds me too much of teletubbies which were my favorite when I was little. I just say "FBHT". I must be the shittiest fan on the planet, no wonder everyone hates me. I don't even have the real Mother Mary 7", just the reproduction one that came in the 7" box set.

I love how people still call him Steven when that's not anything close to his name :P

What is his name?

I'm even worse - I just call them the Foxboros.

4) There are two different types of FHT fans - those who call them FHT from 2008 and those who call them FBHT from their later tours and TV appearance.

What about those of us who knew them in 2007?

What is his name?

Gregor.

Wow! You're special! :)

I call FBHT just by the best band ever

Aren't the Tubbies a little bit past your generation?

Also, that comment about the Tubbies is perhaps the most peculiar instance of pretentiousness I've ever read. For a side project band with one album and hardly even a tour, I'd say it's awfully dumb to call people old and new Tubbies fans.

I'm not looking to argue with you, it's called an unpopular opinion for a reason.

Not once did I say that one or the other is a "real" fan or not, this isn't 2005 and I would have expected more of an objective reply to my statement.

Pre-Tubs and Early-Tubs fans had experienced the Fandom (green day included) in a different way than those who caught on later. There was a gap in understanding the experiences that were very personal to those who attended and participated in those early shows vs those who did not.

As with the rush of new fans in 2009, it was an odd experience for many to get used to the shift in dynamic. It wasn't negative in any way.

I was interested in seeing if anyone had taken notice as well - it's hardly anything for me, or anyone else, to be hung up on.

You've obviously missed out on the fine history of this thread lol

Yes, I have missed out on quite a lot. I'm sure it will take me more than 3 active hours on a forum to understand its social structure. For the sake of discussion, I look forward to butting heads with you in the future.

You already hate me, so congrats, you've completed another step in becoming part of GDC!

I call them the Foxboro Hot Tubs

Can't put my finger on why that is

The Rev called them the Tubbies in his epic Myspace blog posts. And I've just found out that they no longer exist because Myspace deleted everyone's blogs without warning a couple of years ago. I'm deeply saddened by this :(

I suppose that was one change, when they first came out and during that first tour speaking in ridiculous 60s slang and making a big thing out of playing different characters with different names was a bigger part of it, on stage and in the blog posts etc, always saying "baby girl" and "sting! sting!" and stuff. It seems like there was less of that later on. Although they did it loads at the show in London in 2009 but you wouldn't know from the videos since it was between songs and didn't get recorded much, maybe it just didn't get recorded at later shows either.

MYSPACE, who use it now-a-days, it is like a small water drop in the middle of sahara desert.

I only wanted to use it to read the Reverend Strychnine Twitch's messages. But the utter bastards have deleted them. So now it's truly useless.

That's what happens when Murdoch buys something - it all goes to shit.
