Blasphemy & Genocide: Unpopular Green Day Opinions, Part 2

Rock N Roll Girlfriend is the best part of AI. Discuss.

My reason is saxophone. I win.

Yes, yes it is.

The discussion is now over. I'm good at this

But seriously, I've no idea what the best part of AI is. Let alone Homecoming.

As for comparing JOS and Homecoming, it's incredibly close for me, but Homecoming just edges it. By a pubic hair. I'll leave you to decide whose pubic hair, but obviously not Jason's, as he thinks they're rather unsightly and doesn't have any.

if missminority182 comes in and opines about Jason's pubic hair because of you I'm going to lose my shit. Just a warning.

Would that make "Pieces of Truth" the best song on Stop Drop & Roll?

It already is, but.

So many good songs on that record. I've always had a thing for 27th Ave Shuffle though.

Not only is the third act of 21CB by far its most consistently strong, 21 Guns is far from its worst song.

It's really impossible for me to choose a favorite, but it's safe to say that "The Pedestrian", "Mother Mary", "Pieces of Truth", "Stop Drop and Roll" and "Sally" are my top five.

There's seriously not a song I don't love on that record.

I just recieved my copy of "Nobody Likes You" by Marc Spitz and it says that on that day Billie had to do paperwork regarding his community service for DUI conviction and Tre was in process of divorce, meeting with layers. Mike was left alone in the studio and came up with "nobody likes you" part, and East 12th St is about Billie doing his DUI paperwork cause apparently Oakland police office is there. And we all know about Tres' part. No idea if the whole thing about that particular day is true but it sounds like a nice story.

Didn't know about that! Makes East 12th Street more interesting.

There's seriously not a song I don't love on that record.

Same! I know The Pedestrian is my least favourite though, I love it but it's the least 60's sounding song on there and more conventional Green Day sounding to my ears, not quite as interesting as the others. I think this opinion is pretty unpopular as it often seems to be a favourite, which I don't really get.

Probably because the solo is amazing

If I could only have one album to listen to for the rest of my life I would probably pick SD&R because it's so perfect.

It'd have to be AI for me, for the variety of sounds in it. SD&R is great, but it's all quite similar. AI has, to quote a certain GDC legend, SO MUCH VARIETIES !!!

It'd have to be American Idiot for me too. I prefer Breakdown as an album but I just couldn't give up Give Me Novacaine, JOS or Whatsername.

I'm with you on AI. It's the only album that never left my iPod for 10 years! No idea how I'm still not tired of it.

I considered 21CB because the sound is even more varied than AI, but I find AI just starts stronger.

In the days of ipods, I refuse to choose. I want them all. Depending on the day, I may want a different sound. On SD&R, I am partial to Red Tide. I think its the best vocal on the record and it really sounds like it could have been done by The Doors.

Sounds more like a mix between Rain and Tired of Waiting :P

I think "Alligator" is cute because my dad always used to say, "see ya later, alligator" to me when I was a tiny child and the song reminds me of it

Don't really know what there is to dislike about Alligator, it's catchy, loads of fun and is based on a Kinks song and references a Bowie song so it's awesome. Plus the alligator head on a stick and snapping mouth dance move when they play it live . I enjoy it even more because my little nephew loves it, it's his favourite Green Day/Foxboro song. We recently made up some alternative "Crocodile" lyrics for it too

I hate the production on J.A.R. The drums are incredibly thin and it lacks so much of the power the AAF version has.

How about the Dookie demo version?
