Guest
Ah man I just loved the musical so much. Then again, I'm a fan of all things over-blown and grandiose and sentimental when it comes to Green Day so the musical is right up my alley. Anaïs.
I love how they started Holiday on the musical I like the bass intro, but I think I prefer the album intro; launching right into the song gives it more of an immediate, in-your-face feel, which fits as it's the most political/preachy song on the album. DTH
Hm... musical voices often sound somewhat artificial to me and tend to exaggerate or weaken songs, and create too much drama. I find it especially annoying when they transform original, rather strong songs into wish-wash music... couldn't have said it better! there are few people that are considered "great singers" that i like. i like voices that are "true" and have some kind of rawness to them. voices that are distinctive. early bob dylan, joe strummer, mark knopfler, john fogerty, phil ochs, jesse michaels... or to mention a female singer as well: patti smith. that's why i pretty much dislike billie joes attempt to sing "clean" on the trilogy... you know whats the worst? all those shitty pop pseudo punk bands whos singers all sound the same: high, terrible american, whiny voices... urgh. simple plan, all time low and so on...
Z J
Paper Lanterns is probably one of GD's best 3 songs pre-Dookie. Such an amazing melody.

I wonder how much money donations could influence the mods, particularly Andres.

Guest
^ the thing is, I know I heard it in concerts and I know I liked it, I just never got around to obsessively playing it 24/7 - so whenever people talk about it I just nod sagely and pretend I totally know what they're on about.
