Blasphemy & Genocide: Unpopular Green Day Opinions, Part 2

Come to think of it I actually agree with this. They're great songs, it's a great album with extremely good lyrics, but I prefer to take each song in isolation because they're all meaningful regardless of any link to the supposed story, so I don't even feel like I'm losing out by not caring for the story. It's just a different way of interpreting the whole thing, which is what the band want people to do with their music anyway.

Yeah there's so many ways to interpret/appreciate that album. I do notice and enjoy the story, and the power and emotion in it, but I don't particularly relate to it (which a lot of people give as their main reason for liking it), and don't feel like that diminishes how much I like it either.

I always forget that X-Kid exists until someone on here mentions it.

I mean I always try to forget about it, but there's that one guy's username on here

I went through a phase of playing it constantly. It's not bad, it's just ... meh. Better than a lot of the Trilogy, but could have been better than what it was.

I was the same way; it made me super stoked to hear it in the trailer for Tre, but according to my iTunes I've only listened to it eight times. It's just a pretty generic song overall, and Billie's double-tracked vocals irritate the shit out of me.

Totally agree with what everyone's saying about X-Kid ... I often forget it exists now. I don't think that's necessarily because it's a bad song, it's just that its shelf life is limited and I think it offers diminishing returns.

This is pretty much exactly my opinion as well.

No idea it'd generate such a shock

X kid is a great song, often reminds me of my life, like you fell in love but you just fell apart, just look at the straight forward emotions man,, i mean that is the key to the whole songs, and that catchy solo, awesome riffs, and great drums, and and and not to forget, it is from the album that reflects reality "Tre" .. so Cool!! :3 :D

I listened to Tre like 3 or four times even though I don't consider it a bad album. At the time I was kinda fed up with Green Day and later when I wanted to give it a proper listen I found I actually liked a lot of these songs but not enough to listen to them regularly. I must admit X-Kid is a good song. I'd enjoy hearing it live, but haven't listened to it for months since I can't stand the Trilogy's production. I prefer live recordings - they're much better.

I always forget Tre (the album) exists until I get reminded of its existence.

Now for other news: I'm actually kinda warming up to Dos.

I think X-Kid would have really benefited from a Demolicious redo.

Everything would benefit from a Demolicious redo. I love the Trilogy, but it sounds sort of muted compared to Demolicious.

While I like X-Kid, I really don't see it as anything special. It's a good song, just not one of the stand-out songs of the Trilogy.
