Blasphemy & Genocide: Unpopular Green Day Opinions, Part 2

This has been incredible. I love you, GDC. Except Dookie Lukie. Sorry, Jesus. I don't love Jesus.

Florence's covers are ok. Not bad I guess, but I generally prefer electric guitar over acoustic guitar.

Can you stop spamming so we can talk why this cover album sucks?

No one is stopping you from doing so. Go ahead.

I see Dookielukie more as a wannabe Hitler now

For some reason the first image that came to mind was him singing Wannabe by the Spice Girls.

"I wanna-ha, I wanna-ha, I wanna-ha, I wanna-ha, I really really really wanna zig-a-zig Führer."

Hahah brilliant.

What live performances are you watching?

https:// www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwrfZ5hnhhc

Well, the first performances shown here were of poor quality, and I too, thought, she can´t even sing. The bad quality didn´t do her a favour. This one is totally different, shows she has a beautiful voice. You saved her. ;)

Just listened to some of her Nimrod covers, but, no, doesn´t do it for me. In my opinion (see, I´ve learned through this thread not to generalize :) ) her voice doesn´t fit into the songs, sounds poor to my ears or somewhat "pressured". I prefer male voices in these songs, find it more powerful. Well, maybe I prefer male voices anyway... She´s good at ballads (liked her voice in the clip shown here), I think, but Nimrod... no, not for me. Destroys it for me, sorry to say.

Politically correct enough for this thread? Well, it´s not really GD-related...

Maybe this: I would like BJ to do less if he comes back on stage with Green Day. I enjoy his in between jobs when he´s more in the background, just enjoying himself and what he´s doing. Less show, more music, please.

To me the greatness of those simple stripped down versions is a testament to the power of those songs. Whilst not every great song works as an acoustic verison, if a song works even without any special gimmicks, it means that the basic composition itself is very strong.

And I have personally always loved simple perfomances like that. Besides, her voice is amazing.

Geek Stink Breath acoustic is close to being better than the original.

Where can I hear such a thing?

They played it at The Bridge School Benefit gig, I'd link it but I'm on my iPod.

And I'd listen to it but I'm a library! But thanks, I've watched the whole thing before but I'd forgotten about it, I'll be checking it out later.

I am probably the worst speller in this site's history but that is certainly pretty amusing sentence

Listening to the Florence covers, and I think they're really cool. Idk if they're the best covers I've ever heard, but I always enjoy listening to artists change up the songs a bit. With her delivery and the stripped down set up, the quick melodies and lyrics that you don't necessarily catch when GD plays it shine through. I actually think the Grouch cover is comparable to the original. Worry Rock is actually better, I think.

I'm actually looking forward to whatever The Frustrators next than Green Day. Assuming they do anything, anyway.

Their IG teased us a little bit, but nothing too great. This is the biggest tease I've ever seen though. Not even Green Day is this cruel

Cleft Pirate could be a new or unreleased album

I think I said it before here, but I like SWTRLF live but found it incredibly underwhelming live. It seemed like it was a chore for them to perform because the timing was off, idk.

Well, when you've become the minority by comparing nerds to rapists and yourself to Christ...
