Blasphemy & Genocide: Unpopular Green Day Opinions, Part 2

You can hear every instrument/bit of singing/element of the music so clearly, which I've craved but not got on other albums. I enjoy it.

Not the bass :P

To be fair to Seagull, I do remember having a heated discussion on this thread maybe a year ago in which the majority of GDCers said that Green Day only made music for themselves and it didn't matter what the fans thought or if it was any good or if anyone listened to it. I was called a troll for disagreeing.

Well, in that one instance that label was unjustified. :P

Well I was also called a troll for having differing opinions on the Feminists thread but that's a whole different story :P

Not the bass :P

Green Day are just trying to keep up with modern music styles by dropping the bass.

Indeed, and that time the label was *completely* justified--I'd read the last few pages of the Confessions thread were I you.

I can't tell if I want to slap you or think that was an awesome pun.

Jeez, I really don't remember saying anything troll-like except one off-hand comment. Better go re-read.

ok well I like it haha. Still not as bad as "I woke up in a pool of sweat, at first I thought I pissed the bed"

LEAVE FELL FOR YOU ALONE. GODDAMMIT

This all coming from a man who once said in an interview, completely unprovoked, "Have you ever eaten a clump of a woman's period?"

And when the Hell did he ever utter this?! :ermm:

It's ok, like Steven said, freedom of speech has been lost here. :P

Don't give up, regardless of the constant pressure stay true to yourself.

Unpopular Opinion: Billie lost a step after rehab performance-wise.

Here's a video shortly before rehab. You can feel his presence and energy. Larger than life.

Here's the same song after rehab. I can't put my finger on it, but it feels boring. Like he's just going through the ropes.

What does everyone think?

I'd rather take sober, a bit more boring Billie than a hyper-active Billie on drugs.

Besides, I don't see that much difference. And its only natural that shortly after the rehab he wasn't yet as good as he used to be. A rehab is a hard experience.

I saw them live just before Billie's rehab and then a year later after it, in two similarly sized venues. He was fabulous both times, there's no problem.

And when the Hell did he ever utter this?! :ermm:

It was in a year 2000 interview where they were all being silly (the same one where they did "Green Day's top 5 gardening tips" and made fun of Nickelback), the clip of it where he randomly says it can be found somewhere in "Egos and Icons", I don't know when though

I agree something seemed a bit off at Reading. But at Brixton a few days earlier Billie was on fire. It's unfair to decide he's lost it or whatever based on one performance. We've come to expect a hell of a lot from him and the fact is even the best performers in the world have off nights.

On the one hand, it was a great opportunity to promote the Trilogy, so in that respect it was a bad idea to play it (not to mention the fact that last year was the 19th anniversary, not the 20th!), but on the other hand, we get a full pro shot of Dookie, so that can't be too bad!

It only takes them 40 odd minutes to play Dookie so there's plenty of time for other songs as well anyway. I didn't come away from Brixton feeling like I'd just seen a Dookie show, it was just one part of the setlist. 13 Dookie songs instead of the 5 or so they already usually play (which are also the longer songs on the album) doesn't actually take up that much extra of the show, especially as one of the things they cut out for it is King For A Day/Shout.
