Blasphemy & Genocide: Unpopular Green Day Opinions, Part 2

To be honest I never said I don't like it. I love it. I just said it would benefit from some different order of the songs.. Lol.

Did you read what I wrote? "Whilts the first 10 tracks of Dookie ars pretty much the best thing they ever did" Sounds like I bloody hate it, right? I just feel that the end of it is a let-down. An anti-climax.

They should've used JAR, an accoustic, tuned-down Good Riddance, and Don't Wanna Fall in Love instead of In the End, Emenius, amd All By Myself

Was J.A.R. written before Dookie's release? It didn't come out until about 18 months later.

And better lyrics. :P Because even though I'm defending them musically, W!TL and Amy's lyrics still suck.

See I always enjoyed Amy's lyrics. They're simple. Dumb simple during the chorus. But I think that's the point of the song. It's stripped down, it's very retro- even beatles esque in my mind. The connection between both people's addictions certainly adds another dimension to the lyrics. When he says "Amy don't you go" I think you can easily substitute his own life/consciousness in for Amy.

When I first heard this song it sounded like a classic to me. I'm not saying that like it's one of GD's best songs, but it gave off this vibe that just reminded me of a song like "Mama I'm coming home" or something to that effect.

Oh I agree I wish I could like this post more

If you were Dookie Lukie you would. You would like it again. And again.

Weirdly enough, I enjoy the first and last three tracks of Dookie more than the rest of the album. Coming Clean and In the End are really well-written songs and I like that it took awhile for them to grow on me. Now that they have, though, they're among my favorite songs on the album.

Emenius Sleepus and In the End really grew on me when I went through a situation where those lyrics felt like direct words out of my mouth. That's when it hit me how relatable Dookie is. That's the beauty of the whole album really. It doesn't say anything complex, but every lyric gains power from how easily everyone can relate. It's unashamedly blunt.

I'd agree that a lot of the simple lyrics on the Trilogy are perhaps keeping up with the "party, don't take it seriously" vibe. Amy has simplistic and sincere lyrics. However, albums like Dookie were also simple and sincere, but not in a way that was lyrically lazy like the Trilogy seemed. So there's a big subjectivity in looking at the Trilogy's lyrics in that way.

It's gotten to the point where if I see a notification over 3 I assume Dookie did it

I agree, Amy is one of the exceptions on the trilogy for me where I feel like the simplicity really fit the song, and it was honest and sincere, as you said.
