Blasphemy & Genocide: Unpopular Green Day Opinions, Part 2

Maybe not everybody can "do rap" because it's very hard to make such a sucky genre sound good.

I'm not a rap fan, but c'mon, man, no genre is inherently bad.

Or because it takes skill to be good at? Not a difficult concept.

That last part is kinda beside the point. But yeah it's not really fair to everyone. But i think most people would agree that isn't the same place anymore. And understandbly so, it was just a suggestion to improve the site, but yeah still fucked up. This place only really interests me when green day stuff is going on anyway, and I guess that is how it will have to stay. It's prolly that way for most anyway. I guess it's unrealistic to really fit right in. Especially when you can't keep up.

Dude, I don't understand why you have such a chip on your shoulder. How does more than one person disagreeing with you = ganging up on you? Nobody's being mean to you whatsoever, so why are you reacting like this?

Don't you start.

My point is no one makes much of an effort to be nice to new/unknown people. Everyone starts disagreeing with them for really no reason when they try to make an effort. But in this case it wasn't like you started it really. But I have seen it quite a bit other places. Or just nobody cares and doesn't respond to what a new person says.

> "New people aren't accepted here."

> Tom is a mod.

Your move.

I was just about to post that. This place loves a good old shitstorm/witch hunt, but at the same time it's also easily the most accepting forum I've ever been a member on.

I'm replying to you at length. Clearly I care about what you're saying and want to respond. That doesn't mean that I have to agree with your opinion, though. I haven't talked to you about anything other than this, so maybe outside of what we're talking about, you and I would get along famously.

I beg to differ--I was welcomed as soon as I arrived here, and really made to feel like I was making a valuable contribution. Maybe, just maybe, people actually disagree with your opinion, and aren't on some witch hunt against new people.

christ, dude. If you want to complain about the site, you might gain more traction in another thread. We're really just here in this thread to talk and argue about our unpopular opinions. This isn't really the place for you to take a stand about how horrible GDC has become, blah blah blah.

Also:

"GDC was so much better back in the day" - Everyone, ever.

My original point was not to trash the forum, I just wanted to talk to someone. And no one ever really says anything to me unless I'm arguing about something. I guess it's not really fair to expect it if no one knows who you are or if you didn't make much of an effort to share things about yourself when you first joined. I get it. Getting responses to what is going on currently with green day or like with the world cup going now is enough. Just seems like people argue more than they make an effort to make connections, that is all, but I'll shut up now so the thread doesn't get closed.

I'll shut up now so the thread doesn't get closed.

Pretty sure at least half the regulars on here would leave if that ever happened.

Anyway, all I see here is a difference in opinion, but it doesn't mean anyone is writing you off as a person. You're allowed to lose an argument without it being a witch hunt.

Right I know I think people just get defensive in their conversations. It's human nature. New people just tend to be more so. And it's not always fair to blame regulars for it. And this place is rather accepting compared to others it's just a little frustrating that it's not quite as much as it used to be.

Anyway, back trilogy stuff and to topics people were discussing. I think brutal love is one of the better songs on it. Along with x-kid, stay the night, rusty james, nuclear family. And I used to think the forgotten was the best song out of all the trilogy, but the verses just got kinda old and boring. At first, I was like this is everything 21 Guns wasn't and compared it to like something john lennon would have done, but now it's one of my least favorite trilogy songs. The lyrics are kinda confusing too. Like I just can't quite connect to it anymore. I wish there was a version just with billie and a piano on demolicious instead of stay the night acoustic.

Pretty sure at least half the regulars on here would leave if that ever happened.

Right I got it, thanks. Sorry for the trouble and complaining about the forum.

GDC sucks now, and has always been better in the past. Always.

Basically what I got out of these last three pages.

Accurate?

I think new members are welcomed very kindly. Heck, I created shitstorms constantly when I joined and I still feel very at home. People are generally really nice on GDC.

I was never scared to post and GDC was scarier then :P, it's much nicer now. Really though I don't think anyone means anything personally in this thread, it's just a case of disagreeing with unpopular opinions. As long as everyone remembers it's only music we're debating and doesn't make it personal/take it personally I don't see any problem with disagreeing and debating all we want regardless of how long each of us has been here.

honestly i think gdc was much scarier/less friendly back then. people were really harsh on 'noobs' and such.

the nature of this thread is obviously going to spark disagreements, and therefore debates. that doesn't have to devolve into full out arguments, and i don't think it has at all. everyone in here should remember that just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mean they're attacking you

That's the nature of a discussion board though. You voice an opinion, someone disagrees, makes it known. You're not being victimised.

Christ you're 24, how do you go outside?

I'm not gonna dignify that with much of an answer. Really unnecessary. And I think most people have moved on. But I hope you feel good about yourself.

Yeah, people are generally more polite/nice on GDC now, there was a lot more banter and bluntness in the past so it was more intimating for new members (or some of them anyway :P).

But anyway if we want to keep talking about GDC we should probably go to the Regular's Club, let's get back to those Unpopular Opinions shall we
