Bastard of 1969
Yeah, a good cover it is. Well, a little bit better than original.
Sauli
Well, a little bit better than original. A matter of opinion. But I see where that comes wrong...the original can be thought as boring, and a bit too simplistic, but to me that only makes it more brilliant. It is so uncompromising. But, the versions have so different approaches and arragements, not to mention the times they were released, so to me it makes no sense to compare them. Sauli
I don't know, i just don't like the original. Like I said, a matter of opinion. And anyway the original works better as a statement than as a song. It is too underdone as a song to really show oof all of its potential. And that is what Green Day did with their cover. While the original hits me still harder on a pure emotional level, the cover is musically more interesting. Thats the way to do covers anyway to make them feell like they were your own songs while still preserving the main elements that made the song special in the first place.
tdlyon
I think A Quick One is their best cover and blows the original away.

Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love
The cast version of 21 Guns is better than the original.. What can I say im a sucker for harmonies.. Yeah I def agree with that. Most musical versions of the songs are too different to accurately compare them to the originals, but with 21 Guns I'd definitely say the musical version is better. also what key combo makes your post post? I accidentally hit enter and some other key and it posted mid-sentence but now I can't find what combo that was
Akshat Jain
Yeah I def agree with that. Most musical versions of the songs are too different to accurately compare them to the originals, but with 21 Guns I'd definitely say the musical version is better. but the musical version do not have that beautiful solo that made the song extraordinary, that's like have a cake that's way too delicious without a cherry at the top..!!

Hermione
Agreed. It's ridiculously good. Could anyone dislike it? It's fabulous. Seeing the Foxies do it made me like it even more, I thought it'd be the last song so I made a conscious effort to absorb and remember every moment of it to the best of my ability, now I just have to listen to that song to take me back to being at that show so it's, like, an amazing experience to listen to it.

Sauli
Dat Rock and Roll Circus version, tho. http://touch.dailymotion.com/video/xhwie_the-who-a-quick-one_music Yes, they blew the studio version away by their live versions. And the one you linked is one of the best ones out there. No wonder why the 'O are considered to be one of the best live acts ever.

DookieLukie
That Rock and Roll Circus version was playing on the hospital TV when my grandmother was passing. Not during the death but during the time we spent in the hospital. That and a Rolling Stones performance. So A Quick One has a huge emotional tie to myself. It's also one of my favorite songs of all time.
