Vocals do.

I'd actually say it was one of the best on shenanigans, like Hermione said very dark and twisted. Different to Green Days usual. I dunno I'm just a sucker for a dark song.

oh wait.... after reading this you'll laugh to your greatest extent. i was talking about "On The Wagon", not ROTTING!!

Well then . I do like it in On The Wagon very much, fits the weird country/jazzy vibe of the song nicely.

I love how dark the vocals at lyrics are in Rotting, yet the guitar riff and general sound of the guitar in the beginning is so cheerful. A really interesting contrast.

Same kind of thing as Stray Heart I guess, with the high up minor chords.

Or, yknow, Springsteen's entire career.

Rotting is my favourite song from shenanigans. Billie has such a dark voice there and they way he sings "whisper are you dying in my ear". Scumbag and suffocate are probably 2 and 3.

Yeah the whole production thing would be cool to get into but like Tom says once you study something it kills any love you had for it. I can't now look at posters or logos without noticing flaws

Shenanigans is very inconsistent but it is obvious since it is a collection, but it has some real gems. Like the cover of Tired of Waiting for You that doesn't pale at all when compared to the original (though Ray was a better singer :P), or Ha Ha You're Dead or On the Wagon or Rotting.

And for Lazy Bones too, high up with minor chords. It's a well-worn trick, but is good if it's done well.

I study graphic design so we have to analyse other designers work, like logos/posters/typography etc. So I can't help noticing flaws in stuff I see :P

Doesn't sound to me anything like country/jazzy vibe. More like blues, some relaxing shit and stuff.

I think blues is probably the word I was looking for there , was stuck on how to describe it.

Punk-Jazz sounds like it would essentially be Ska which already exists.

"Punk-Blues" again another genre already established in Cowpunk which is a broader term for country/blues infused punk music.

I think "Defy your judgment and demons and save your last goodbye" (from State Of Shock) are some of the best lines from the whole trilogy

I think that 'we all want to go to heaven but no-one wants to die' is one of the best lines of the Trilogy - and they didn't even write it

It's definitely the best. Because the rest of the trilogy is like:

"Hey! I like your BMW!"

Well about 3 seconds of it is anyway :P

Seriously though most of the trilogy isn't silly/nonsense lines, they're the exception. All kinds of more thoughtful/serious/intelligent stuff in there too.
