Spike
To be fair nothing can compare to the Reading 04 performance of Basket Case. Possibly the best-ever single performance of any Green Day song. Absolutely. That's some serious next level shit right there, totally on another level entirely.
DookieLukie
Absolutely. That's some serious next level shit right there, totally on another level entirely. Can you explain why? It was good, but what makes it so amazing?
Spike
Can you explain why? It was good, but what makes it so amazing? Everything needed for a perfect performance just seemed to click. The speed was spot on, there was an amazing amount of energy from the crowd, the crowd singalong in the intro is one of the loudest I've ever heard, the whole band played flawlessly, Billie's voice was the best it had ever been pre-Breakdown tour, the overall sound was mixed to perfection in terms of tone, dynamics and levels, and the whole band, especially Billie, just seemed really relaxed and it led to a really natural performance that just flowed. Usually there's at least one thing that's slightly off, because there's so much to go wrong, but everything just fell into place for that one song. JOE THE X-KID
Why do you think Kerplunk and Warning are better than Insomniac? Could you elaborate? I like Warning and its poppy sound a lot, and it has no bad songs, its very consistent and I like how it does not sound so monotonous. Kerplunk on the other hand has better lyrics and songs like 2000 light Years Away, One for the Razorbacks, Christie Road and Words I Might Have Ate just are awesome. Insomniac sounds monotonous and boring sometimes and is not very consistent or as memorable. See, I prefer more "poppy" Green Day and Insomniac is rawer, both lyrically and musically. But its still a great album though. And since I have dyslexia its name is a real pain in the ass. All of the songs on Insomniac have a pop song structure but yes it's a lot darker. It's actually my favourite album ....
Sauli
All of the songs on Insomniac have a pop song structure but yes it's a lot darker. It's actually my favourite album .... thats true. And darkness really ain't the problem, the melodies just aren't as fine. And as for pop structure, Green Day aren't labeled as pop punk band for nothing...
TommyGun
that's also my opinion , the songs on Insomniac sound a bit monotonous but on the other hand i love the lyrics, especially from panic song and stuard and the avenue and stuff it's obviously darker but it fits to green day's situation back in 1995 i'd say

AlissaGoesRAWR
"So tell me when it's time to say I love you." If you've just got married I would have hoped it'd already happened Tomomnom, how could you? You done fucked up, dear. Haha, YES, we danced to When It's Time at our wedding. Aside from despising a grand majority of 21CB (including Last Night on Earth, so dreary, despite being the "Green Day love song"), the lyrics of When It's Time actually are quite applicable to someone like me, who has an extremely hard time expressing emotion, even to those I care about most. I've always considered the song beautiful, and after seeing it in the musical for the first time, it touched me, I always knew it was what I wanted to dance to. Luckily I married someone who not only tolerates my Green Day obsession, but also embraces it, and agreed it would be a wonderful song. It turned out lovely, and we enjoyed that basically no one (except for Mar and Laura) knew what the song even was. Also, I adore Adie and Billie and I can only hope that someday we're old and graying and renewing our wedding vows after 20 years like they did this year. There's a video circulating somewhere on the Interwebz, but I can't be bothered to find it right now. My mom also recorded most of the reception, so I can eventually post the video somewhere on here.

That's what my ex-gf said to me when she used to have her insane bi-polar freakouts and tried to reconcile things afterwards. Should have known this was an early sign to run seeing as she cheated on me 3 times. Kinda makes me wish I knew the future. Would have saved a lot of time. Well, not everyone who has a hard time with outward expression is a bipolar cheater. But I'm sorry to hear about what happened to you.

It's ok. I guess I'm just very wary of emotional issues because that's what made her the sick person she was. Congrats though

Spike
Not this again. Sorry I stand by what I said in the first place though I'm glad it was good for you though, if it means something to you, which it obviously does, then fair enough! I think Last Night on Earth sucks, but if you like it and dance to it, I won't think any less of you. I knew some people would disagree with the song we chose or think it was lame/cheesy but let's be honest, no one expected anything else from me and I was happy, so that's all that counts!
