The Disappearing Boy
I think Kerplunk is equal to Dookie if we do not count Sweet Children etc songs. Dos is the best of the trilogy. Not very good anyway. Its not a bad album, pretty good actually but Kerplunk, Dookie, Nimrod, Warning, AI and 21st Breakdown are just better... I don't think anyone counts the Sweet Children songs But yeah, for me, Insomniac has always been my least favourite of their 'mainstream' albums.

burnout409
I'll never forgive Last Of The American Girls for being part of the worst thing Green Day have ever done. Forget Nightlife, just look at this utter arsegravy. I forgot this ever happened! I wish I still had forgotten. Nightlife>This performance of LOTAG>Pop Disaster Tour
The Disappearing Boy
Watching that LOTAG video, I can see why some people have lost respect for Green Day. As for the worst thing they've done? That video is up there, but either Amy of The Forgotten takes the biscuit there.-

Hermione
Yeah poor Insomniac is pretty low on my list as well, I really love it but I just love others more so it gets unfairly pushed down. lol at people calling anything with a melody ""poppy"" Ehh it's a word that can be used to describe a catchy melody. As long as it's not being used as an insult (as if there's something wrong with a song having poppy elements to it) I don't see a problem, it's a just a description of sound in the context of this discussion. That video is up there, but either Amy of The Forgotten takes the biscuit there.- I think the only reason they even released and made a video for LOTAG was it was the only song left on 21st CB that was also in the AI musical, which they were putting all their efforts into promoting at the time having pretty much abandoned promoting 21st CB itself. Swept the best song on the album that had been getting by far the most attention from the media (East Jesus Nowhere) under the rug in a rushed release with no video since it wasn't in the musical, but released the unremarkable LOTAG with a full video and full promotion since it was in the musical. Understandable I suppose but lame nonetheless. However the JOS video takes the crown for worst thing they've done!

True haha, discussion does tend to be slightly more mature than average in this thread though so hopefully no one took it that way. Are we just not going to talk about the Whatsername video? Whatsername doesn't have a video . One piece of silent footage that Sam Bayer may or may not have used part of if he'd made a Whatsername video was leaked, then someone on here added the music to it for fun, and someone else decided to put it on youtube labelled an "official video". It's not even a video let alone an official one.

Jaded in Chicago
I understand that Insomniac perhaps shouldn't be regarded as one of their best, but surely equal if not better than Kerplunk, Nimrod and Warning?

As if he had a reputation to save after what he did with Jesus Of Suburbia and Bullet In A Bible. While I agree on JOS, after seeing a bunch of other concert films I have to concede that Bullet in a Bible, while still poorly directed and spastically edited, is far from the worst of the bunch. Purple Haze
I still don't get this hate for 1039 and Kerplunk. They aren't exactly masterpieces, but there is definitely signs on there of what Green Day can do. Anyway, their worst album is Uno/Dos*** *** Delete as appropriate. Or perhaps more appropriately, don't delete at all and leave both there. I think it's because they hadn't quite got the hang of songwriting or recording (In 1039's case). Kerplunk isn't terrible for it, but 1039 is FULL of cheesy lyrics and whole sections of songs that just sound out of place in my opinion. Also, there is no doubt about it, John Kiffemeyer was a sloppy drummer compared to Tre. As a result the tempo of songs jumps about all over the place and the drum fulls sound really messy. I still enjoy the odd listen to 1039 though

Anaïs.
Well I'm glad it's not just me who thinks it's really poorly done, at least! That's new. I think a lot of it is nicely put together—I'm in the minority in liking the interspersing of documentary footage between songs, and camera moves like the helicopter shots are well handled. The color palette is really fantastic too. In the end, though, the constant switching back and forth between color and black and white is distracting, and the editing—while he couldn't have done anything else, sadly, as that's what's expected out of a concert film—is fucking infuriating. I'm convinced that watching Bullet in a Bible in full often enough is enough to give a person ADHD for life.
Guest
^ BIAB always frustrated me so much because all I wanted were long, lingering close-ups on Billie's angelic face, and I never got them

The way Jaded is edited out is just hilariously done, makes me cringe every time. I just don't understand the decision to cut certain songs, especially Homecoming and Knowledge. Ultimately I'm glad we've got it and it is worth a watch, but as soon as you engage your brain you just think "wtf is going on?"

I'm hoping that in twenty years when all the "They sold out!" arguments have died out and they're remembered as the guys who had the amazing run of albums including two bona fide classics, the guys will have enough clout to put out a "Complete Bullet in a Bible" like The Who did with Live at Leeds.

TommyGun
irving plaza would be awesome for fans but to put it on dvd would not be appropriate as billie fucked up quite a few songs i think but somehow those songs played at that show were so rare that it is absolutely a must to have them in good quality
