Mar
I completely support you in your unpopular opinion. I can't stand this fucking song. The melody is so empty, the lyrics, excuse me but.. ''And ste-re-o in the sta-a-tic aaaaage'' is just cringeworthy. Also Brain Stew isn't my fav but it's an ok song for me. Yep. I get nothing out of the song and never quite understood why it's often considered a standout on 21CB. I mean, people shit on LOTAG, but at least it's catchy and has a melody.
Hermione
I retract my earlier statement, I had my facts distorted. Remembering back to the show I was at they surprised me by playing "Chump" and "Let Yourself Go" which, as far as I could tell, hadn't been played before that show. Then as Tom mentioned they did play Dookie in its entirety a couple of times. What I should have said was that they need to stop playing know your enemy second in the set, because I'd like to hear something fresh there. Sorry about my idiocy :/ Not idiocy at all, it's perfectly valid to want them to change up their setlist more (and you're definitely not the only person who's expressed that wish!). Just pointing out it's not a new thing on this tour for them to not change things up that much that's all, no need to be hard on yourself for anything you wrote
ifmemoryserves
Oh dear. Oh dear oh dear.it's literally so awful. i've never liked it and frankly i never knew that anyone did. the verses are boring melodically and otherwise. the chorus is more than bland and the way it's repeated about three hundreds times throughout the song is just dreadful. the only redeeming parts are the guitar solo and the part right after it. but they don't make me enjoy the song overall.

I'm completely the opposite I've liked it ever since I heard it. Particularly the verse melody. Though the choruses are a bit boring. Glad someone else likes the solo though!
green day is
I like the lyrics cause it's pretty much American Idiot Part 2 but the song itself could be better.

Hermione
I like it but I don't think it's a stand out track. Is it really a big favourite or is it just viewed that way because they've played it a lot?
Spike
I like it but I don't think it's a stand out track. Is it really a big favourite or is it just viewed that way because they've played it a lot? For me it was my favourite on the album for the first few months. It did wear thin faster than any other song on the album and the Disneyfied production is a bit offputting, but I still think it's a decent song. Just suffers from being so repetitive. The live version is clearly much better, I wish they'd included a live recording on AAF or Last Night On Earth.
Guest
LNOE is perfect live, I still can't believe it's not on AAF. Thanks for reminding me of one of my pet GD peeves, Tom.

Spike
What don't you like about it? I actually was listening to this earlier and thought it sounded really good It sounds great on its own (to the point were I've used the same samples as Tre for drums in my own music) but in some of the full mixes it sounds a bit dead and a tad high pitched, which makes it stand out a bit more than I'd like. I'm pedantic, though. The drums on American Idiot and Nimrod are perfection.

The production of everything on American Idiot and Nimrod is pretty much perfection
Backyard Skulls
My favourite song on 21cb is horseshoes and handgrenades, wish they played it live after the secret shows in 09 When I saw gd in Glasgow the crowd tried to get Tre to sing "haha" after the "clock is laughing in my face" line in Brain stew. Managed to get him to do the "yeah yeah" thing in king for a day too I like brain stew, only put it back on my phone fairly recently, same with walking contradiction. Probably has some Billie's cleverest lyrics tbh.
Z J
Static Age has great verse melodies, I can see where people get tired of the chorus but I still like it. Plus the bridge is probably a top 5 bridge for GD. Incredible

The Platypus!
Crazy, right? Least favourite on 21CB. How can people like this but not Static Age. Baffles me.
The Disappearing Boy
Least favourite on 21CB. How can people like this but not Static Age. Baffles me. The worst on breakdown for me has to be either Christian's Inferno or Horseshoes and Handgrenades. Last Night on Earth isn't too bad, but the lyrics are horribly cheesy.
