The Disappearing Boy
What does everyone prefer - the sax solo they do live, or the guitar solo on the album?
Guest
What does everyone prefer - the sax solo they do live, or the guitar solo on the album? How is this even debatable? Adding sax to their live ensemble is the best thing they've ever done.
AmyxLongview
I also like the sax solo a little better. It makes the song more energetic and exciting. I wish they would have had Jason do it on the studio version!
Z J
In Angel Blue, the guitar solo/bridge is one of the best sections of music on the trilogy. Rest of song is ok but that part is fantastic IMO And yes, Sax is infinitely better
DookieLukie
Yeah, sex is much better than a guitar solo.
Spike
What does everyone prefer - the sax solo they do live, or the guitar solo on the album? Quite clearly the sax solo. I always wanted Green Day to cover Born To Run, but I never expected them to do it as a medley with The Static Age.
The Disappearing Boy
How about both guitar solo and sax? Get rid of those 6 million choruses at the end!
TheGrouch33
I think American Idiot would be an even greater album if it didn't include She's A Rebel in it. I mean, i really love the song, but it just doesn't fit all the stuff going on in the album. If they put Favorite Son instead of She's A Rebel and put the song on the b-sides i think that would've made the album better. Personally speaking here. I dont think Wake me up fits either then following that logic, probably the song that sounds nothing like the rest I still dont know hoy the lyrics relate to the rest of the story. I mean cmon Shes a rebel makes a great transition song from novacaine, also it has great lyrics and a upbeat sound that makes sense regarding the story that theyre trying to tell.

Yepp I agree She's A Rebel awesome and it contains one of the most important lines in the album "and she's holding on my heart like a hand grenade". But yeah I'd like to know why people dislike it?? And WMUWSE is the one song that doesn't participate in the story but it does convey feelings similar to the rest and I couldn't imagine it being on anything else other than AI. And after writing and hearing that song I don't think the band could have just let it go because it didn't fit in so much. I mean I'm sure it was obvious that song would be a hit
The Platypus!
EJN is nowhere near the best song on 21CB, it may not be the majority opinion anymore, but I remember when 21CB first came out everyone was raving about it and I was just like meh. When I come around should be taken off the live playlist, it's a good song to listen to (the recorded version) but it's just too dreary and dull live, just like Brain Stew/Jaded. I mean I'm sure it was obvious that song would be a hit agreed, WMUWSE does give American Idiot even more sentimental value and i dont understand either why fans dislike Shes a rebel, its probably the most "Green Day" sounding song from the album compared to their older albums. If you ask me Shes a rebel is a better song than State of shock(which people go nuts about around here) not because of the production of each song but because its seems like a more coherent and appealing than State of shock. The Disappearing Boy
A fully fledged song sounding more coherent than a demo is hardly surprising though is it?
Spike
When I Come Around is always the absolute highlight live and I see no reason why they should ever drop it.
The Platypus!
Yes it is the best song and you should feel bad. I actually like the live versions of WICA/Brain Stew better. You have to be joking American Eulogy is a artistic masterpiece, and Static Age, yes it is repetitive but I love it. What?! I think they're ok when you've seen it once, but don't you think songs like homecoming/paper lanterns/the grouch should be thrown in to the setlist? It gets the crowd way more buzzed! They have enough sing-a-long songs in the setlist IMO .
TheGrouch33
A fully fledged song sounding more coherent than a demo is hardly surprising though is it? well I dont think a song´s "coherence" is related to the fact that a song is fully mixed and finished (although we dont really know if the demo was the full body of the song, that the band wanted)
TheGrouch33
she's a rebel is a million times better than state of shock, doesn't mean it holds up to the rest of ai though I prefer Shes a rebel to the big mess that homecoming is
The Platypus!
Live is the only time I can stand WICA and Brain Stew. Even when you're in a fed up mood Brain Stew doesn't help you let out your emotions by screaming it at the top of your voice!?

Whereas EJN is perfectly produced, lyrical perfection, and full of some of the purest vitriol Green Day has put on an album. While it'd be nice to see Homecoming live, Paper Lanterns isn't anything special and Billie can't remember The Grouch for shit. I'd rather see them do WICA and Brain Stew as they're songs that everyone present loves and always get the crowd pumped. I'd definitely be in favor of cutting KYE and some of the other bits of the Greatest Hits montage, though.
