Rest is fabulous, get out.

Emotions are great and all, but there comes a point when you need to consult facts. Here, check this out:

Rest=butt.

I will defend his little millionaire butt until the end of time.

Even worse than Christian's Inferno? Hmm.

At least the words are cooler? Inferno is a decent word right?

Ah fuck I've got nothin

:lol:

Whoa, Christian's inferno

Whoa, Christian's inferno

Whoa, Christian's inferno

Whoa, Christian's inferno

It really adds to the message and emotion of the song in such a creative manner, doesn't it?

I sat through another hour of that album and I never found out why Christian was inferno.

At least it makes an ounce of goddamned sense. :P

That's it. My signature will now present the wonderful and relatable lyrical work that is all of the trilogy.

Nightlife is class GD? Sex Drugs and Violence? A little Boy Named Train?

Obviously we'll have to agree to disagree if those songs are "classic" GD songs.

I wouldn't say those lyrics can accurately sum up the entire trilogy. Regardless, I like those lyrics, I think they're fun.

Nightlife is something totally out of left field, and I really enjoy it. I would definitely rank SDAV and LBNT as classic GD songs. Both of them capture a feeling of alienation and being lost in a chaotic world that many previous GD classics have also captured.

Yeah, looks like we'll have to disagree :P

The verses are fine but the chorus has to be the worst they've ever done. That reminds me.

Every night I've been running wild like a...runaway. :toocool:

At least it makes an ounce of goddamned sense. :P

Compared to "There's no return from 86," not exactly. Compared to "I'll make you surrender"...um, I think so.

And to add to the discussion:

99 Revs = semi butt

SDV = semi butt

Rest = not butt

How was Take Back diversifying their sound though? It's standard GD fare, 3 or 4 chords, verse/chorus/verse etc., 4/4 time. The only difference is that Billie growls the chorus.

I'd say it's hands down the most aggressive and closest to hardcore punk sounding song they've ever done even without the growling. That's the icing on the cake that makes it really stand out but I think the rest of it does as well. Might have the same basic structure but there's a lot more to a song than that, I think it sounds strikingly different.

AI not being a part of your top 3 is the most insane thing I've seen in this thread. Especially being behind the trilogy. :P

Oh really? Well let me introduce you to two good friends of mine :P

Yes yes, two more great albums :P. At a push I can separate it out to trilogy, 21st CB and Nimrod in first place and Dookie and AI (and Stop Drop and Roll as well actually lol) just behind them in second place, but those 6 are all perfect to me really so don't worry.

My lower ranking ones are pretty standard though I think, if that makes you feel better :lol:: Insomniac > Warning > Kerplunk > 39/Smooth

All I can say Hermione is that you're a brave girl coming in this thread and putting the Trilogy ahead of AI and Dookie :P

Well I've made it common knowledge in this thread for over a year so it's not that shocking :P. There's no accounting for taste don't you know!

Insomniac so near the bottom is "pretty standard?!"

More like the middle. Usually AI and Dookie are placed above it and Nimrod and/or Warning and Kerplunk often can be as well, it's not known as being a particular favourite as far as I know.

Btw I find it hard to believe that anyone is genuinely surprised by any order of favourite Green Day albums on a Green Day forum where most people like all of them and it's evident that everyone has different preferences in them :P. If you did a survey of casual fans then of course AI and Dookie would be number one nearly all the time but when you look at bigger fans who are familiar with all their stuff then preferences are going to be more varied.

Yeah but to put it above AI and Dookie? Modidits must be getting to you. Poor Hermione :hug::P

Probably. It's not generally rated very highly.

I'll have you know before I was a mod I already had Nimrod and 21st CB above them, and was pretty sure the albums that turned out to be the trilogy would be as well just from the live clips we'd heard. So there :P. But "above them" to me only means a tiny amount above them anyway, it's meaningless really haha.

To me, rating albums is sort of an exercise in futility. Depending on the day/my mood, I might rank Tre above American Idiot. It just depends, man.
